I have a standalone region 2 dvd player, which must be chipped for multiregion. There are no handset codes available.

I have a dvd burner which can be changed from region to region a limited number of times.

For months I have been trying to get a film which has been deleted in the UK, and nobody has been able to track down a copy, so I decided to buy a region 1 version from the US.

If I rip this dvd and then burn onto another dvd, will this overcome the region encoding or will I just end up with two region 1 discs?

Thanks is advance for any advice

    Yes,

When you rip the movie the region and macro-vison protection are removed.

You may then have to process the vob to make it dvd5.

There could be a problem with PAL and NTSC. I've never converted a disc, but I've read some people here having trouble.

I have done 6 region 1 dissc and have played them on my region 2 standalone without any problem.

PAL machines can play the NTSC discs okay.
