I have been having mixed results whem playing discs recorded using "DVD Cloner 3". I have a "garden grade" Sony Progressive scan machine and the new "OPPO" up converting machine. The problem, which varies between the two machines, is that some, not all, discs "Freeze" about halfway through and will not continue. I have Slysoft's "Any DVD" on my machine. All recordings appear to play fine on my computer. Any ideas?

You failed to mention one of the most important factors in your process...what brand DVD are you using for your backups?

I have used a number of brands and I they all do it. Currently I am using "Any DVD" and "DVD Shrink". I use Memorex DVD+R when I shrink and Memorex DVD+R DL when I dont.

Try another brand of media such as Verbatim. Skipping, pausing, stuttering and pixellation are symptoms of cheap media.

Hi loco.. well what an enlightening thread title. In the playback forums is a thread called playback.. wow what a brainstormer, especially as the question concerns the inability to buy reasonable disks and get a good burn..
    CMC-MAG strike again..

    Hey Jan....hows tricks.

The thread title is actually quite appropriate because if you leave out the semi-colon you get "payback" or basically the same thing you get when using Memorex discs.

    Cheers

    I appreciate the insight.
Is Memorex aware that their product is garbage? Do they care?
    What media is "bullet proof?
    Enlightend.

Memorex isn't necessarily garbage, it just yields a lower compatibility rate than other media and in some cases doesn't seem to last as long. Basically, some people have no problems with them while others can't get the first burn out of the drive with them. The same can be said about higher quality media, but a higher percentage seem to have better luck with a few select brands. Verbatim seem to have the highest degree of success and are readily available at most brick and mortar stores. If you are one for online shopping you may want to try some Taiyo Yuden's they are excellent as well, but are only available online if you live in the US.

Some places to do online shopping.
