You may wish to notify ROVI so they can select another host station. I finally got a response from rovi that kcbs is our host station. I hope they don't also take the lazy way out. K
No response yet from kcbs ... but I got another clerk type at rovi emailing me today. I guess he was responding also, as I did send two emails to rovi. Anyhow, this second clerk asked for more details about what machine I was using (the pana) and how it is hooked up to cable etc. I suggested he contact kcbs or have rovi set up a different host station. I now await more responses.
Believe it or not, I have never done a timer recording on this machine. Now it is time to learn, since no TVGOS is up and running, yet. I can go through tv guide button to get to the programming. 2 questions .. 1 --- How do I change the clock from am to pm when setting up a recording? What button? 2. If I type in a vcr plus number, will the timer set itself? Thanks. K
Well from memory you would highlight the am/pm entry and use the blue button to toggle the am/pm indicator. Once you highlight that field there should be an onscreen indicator telling you which button to use.
After 3 wonderful years my dmr85 finally died. It wouldn't turn on. I opened it and 2 of the capacitors were gone- c1260 and c1261. Radio Shack was no help, so I bought 4 from alliedelec.com. I'm no good at soldering, but I'm taking them over to a friend's tonight. Is it easy to tell which way the capacitors go in? The 35v capacitors seem a little long, but I'm hopeful for the best. I'll report back. Faye
or take it to a little local electronics/TV repair shop like I did and pay small amount for soldering. good luck.
Well, the capacitors are in and all looks good, but I was neglectful in taking pictures when I took the power board out. Can anyone tell me where the little plastic protector sheet goes? Faye
Very Good FF. I finally got the blue grid back onto my screen. I had to harass the rovi folks, but they sent me some special code to punch in on the setup, and a day or two later the grid was back for tv guide, but there still are no listings in that grid. I guess just putting in the time and channels works well enough for recording now, but if they get the grid back, I will be a happy camper.
I will try to paste the rovi email here. I assume it will be the same code numbers for you all as they never asked for a serial number on my machine. It looks like there may be an issue in your area. You may need to do a reset of the Guide and allow it to redownload the lineup and listing data, to do this: 1. Open TV Guide On Screen. 2. Highlight SETUP on the service bar. 3. From SETUP, down arrow once to highlight “Change System Settings.”(do not select anything) 4. With the highlight on “Change System Settings,” enter 653274147 using the number keys on their remote.(you will not see any numbers appear on the screen) At the end of the sequence it should boot you out of the guide or go black for a moment once the reset is done please leave the device powered off with no recording between 11:45pm - 6:00am. If your Guide has not returned, attached you will find a Word document on collecting diagnostics. Please follow the instructions, fill out and send back Thank you
I still haven't even opened the word doc. I assume it is a form to describe the trouble. As I said, I now have the grid but still no listings. Also, when I did reboot with the code number, it never really went black, I think. But it seems to have worked partially, at least. I am going to try to change the channel lineup tonight. I think that may bring back the listings. K
I would try it again. Also, I did email that kcbs station that is supposed to be sending out the signal. Never got a response from them either, but I suspect rovi staff woke those lazyfolks up.
Got a response: 'Due to the digital transition, we currently don't have a host station this area. Our broadcast team is working to come to an agreement with a host station in this area to carry our digital equipment. When they do and the equipment is installed and in operation, our data will back passing in this area. Until this time there will be no guide data. If you wish to check back in 60 days for an update on this area, we may have more information at that time. We apologize for this inconvenience. Regards, CE Customer Support' I guess there is hope.
Well, at least you know. Here's a question for anyone whose Guide is working: Do you ever have scheduled programs vanish from the Record list, sometimes repeatedly? Not because they're missing from the week's schedule in the Guide, but just because...well, who knows why? Last year Sarah Connor Chronicles kept falling out, even though I had it set to record regularly. This year another show has started doing it. For some reason, it seems as though a particular show will cause the problem, and continue to do so all year--even if I take it out and put it back in.
