There are so many different receivers out there that its hard to give advice on this subject. What you need to look for is good support from the code writers that make these bin files so we can enjoy free TV. Starting last June, ALL FTA receivers were shut down by new encryption for about 3 months. It looked like we were never going to get back up and running. Finally, Viewsat receivers came out with a bin file to decrypt the encryption. Some say they cracked it themselves, others say they bought the information they needed. It doesn't really matter how they got it, the fact is they were the only receivers working for about 1 1/2 months. In time the other brands got the fix also. This is what you need to look at. If your receiver goes black, who will be first to write the code to turn it back on. I was a long time user of Pansat receivers, then purchased a Viewsat during the last blackout. I am well satisfied with my Viewsat so that is my first choice now. I still like the Pansats also. Stay away from what they call CLONE boxes. Support (files) for these are always hard to find and the manufacturer my disappear fast. Average price for a good box will be around $150 to $200. Most FTA forums are free to join and so the files are free too. DO NOT pay to join a site or buy the bin files. Hope this helped some.

I have the Viewsat Platinum. File loading is almost the same on both Pansat and Viewsat. Just a slight difference in the look of the loader program. I did own the pansat 2700A which is the one I gave my daughter to use. pansat just came out with a 2800 that seems like a good box. You should be able to learn the programming very easy. Join this forum at the link below if you want the Pansat. Its the site the program coder (Blacklist) supports the most. Files are usually released there first. Free to join. Then read the getting started--and setup guides.

Same as always, they just want everyone to get mad and give up FTA or subscribe to service. They hope people will think its not worth the trouble anymore. Not really a big deal if they only change the keys.

It sounds like DN decided to move the channel you were watching which is probably why you got the TP update message. This is a guess, so I think it was trying to find the new TP and maybe couldn't locate it so it stuck there. The power off cycle must have cleared some channel memory. I would do a factory reset and clear all channels and then rescan everything to get them all back. Thats a problem I never heard of so I'm just guessing.

Not sure which one you had. Go to this site link below and see if any of the sats look familiar.

Jerry - With the holidays coming up, I'd like to get my clone 3500 receiver up and running with an autoroll bin (right now I manually enter in the keys). Has a new clone safe bin been released? (I haven't updated my receiver in over a month.) On a related note, if I were to bite the bullet and purchase a totally new receiver, what would you recommend and where would you recommend I purchase one from?

Last question. There is a Remax business channel on one of the sats, but I'm not sure which one. Do you know which one and it's location? I'm currently using an old DSS dish, which is believe is pointed on 119, so I would reposition my existing dish to pick it up until I can get a dual feed Dish Pro. Do you also have a link to a location showing a sat arch chart to help me reposition?

Thanks in advance for any help and advice. Happy Holidays!

This is the latest file I can find that claims to be clone safe.

I have no way of testing this so use at your own risk.
As to the Remax channels, check this site below. Then click on dish 110 or 119 on the left side. It will list everything on that sat by channel name, sid ,and transponder.

    http://www.lyngsat.com/

Type satfinder in a Google search and see if anything comes up. I have a program I downloaded from somewhere but can't remember where. If you can't find anything, PM your e-mail address to me and I'll attach it as a file back to you.

The dish providers sent down a new encryption change about a week ago that was aimed at those using plastic cards. It also messed up some channels on FTA causing freeze up and no audio like your problem. There have been new bin files released to correct most of those problems. For Pansat files check either of these sites below.
