These FTA receivers are very easy to upgrade. It takes less than 5 minutes to load a bin file and about the same for just a key change. I didn't have the slightest idea how this all worked when I started and in only 45 minutes of opening my receiver box, I was up and running. Of course the dish was already up and aimed. If you have a good tech background as you say then it will be easy. Join the forum I list below for free and read all you can in the newbie section for your receiver. Everything is there on that site.

    Good luck

The channels with $$ in front are the ones you would usually PAY for. Your setting up your receiver at a bad time. DN changed the encryption coding and most channels are blacked out right now. This has been going on for about a week. They are working on the problem but no fix for it yet. Hopefully it will be out soon. Most of the 119 sat channels are out. I'll post here if I hear anything.

you can go bakc and edit in other questions to your posts, no need to make 4 of them. try cdrdvdrmedia.com - cheap discs, good shipping.

the only thing he can give you that will never go down for $400 is a subscription to DN for about 6 months. other than that, he's full of crap. there is NOTHING that will NEVER go down. if there was, why would DN even bother being in business?

HI everyone, I've been on vacation for a few days and got back today.

From what little information I can get, there is still no fix for FTA receivers yet. The 2 main sites I get my info from seem to be off line right now. My guess is they are overloaded from everyone looking for the fix that isn't there yet. As to jacckk's question about any channels working right now, the answer is YES some local stations are still working like the abc group, nbc group and cbs group. Also the NASA channel is working since it is a true FTA channel. AS to switching your dish over to one of the BEV sats, that up to you. But be advised that those channels are also going off just as DN did. I'll keep trying to get onto my sites for more info and post if I get anything.

Just posting an update. Got into both my main sites today and still no pending fix. The only statement was that Blacklist is hard at work on it from one of the sites mods. The wait continues.

Any of the FTA forums should have the information on getting the 91 sat. Yes, the 110/119 equipment will work. Its just a matter of re-aiming the dish to hit the sat. Be advised that those channels are slowing going black also just as DN did. I expect all of those to go out before too long. I was going to try re-aiming and just decided to wait it out.

If you are talking about Direct Tv Channels thats not possible with FTA equipment. Their encryption has not been cracked for some time. They managed to get it right. For more info on what channels or sats you can get try any FTA forum. Thats all they talk about these days since DN is down.

This is very frustrating! I paid $500 for my receiver, sat dish, the installation and wireless vide transfer in the beginning of April. This didn't even last three months before is was a waste of money. Does this always happen? Should I expect to see the dish go down once a month? Is this because of that stupid soccer thing over seas???
