Hello Jerry and all. I am looking at buying the Pansat 3500s with the PVR. Do these units come with a dish, or is that a seperate purchase? Can I use my 18 inch dish from DN? Is there a recommended dish to get more sats? I think with the 18 inch dish I will only get the 110 and 119 sats. Jerrry you seemed to think there were better units than the Pansat. Which brands and models do you suggest over the Pansat? Thanks in advance.
Most prices are shown for the receiver only, but some dealers will have package pricing that include the dish also. You just have to read the ads. I run an old 18 inch DTV dish and get both 110 and 119 off of it. Over 600 channels to start with. More than enough for me. If you want more channels, then a bigger dish is required or 2 separate dishes depending on which sats you want to aim at. The sat locations will be what decides if you can use just a bigger dish or need 2 dishes. If they are spaced too far apart, you need a second dish. I wasn't aware the 3500 came with a DVR unless thats something new just out. The Pansats are good boxes and I used one for over a year. Back this past summer when everything went down, Viewsat was first out with a fix and seemed to have faster support so I purchased a Viewsat. I really didn't think the 2 boxes were that different, but after I had the Viewsat for a while I realized it actually is a much better box. I'm not saying the Pansats are bad, just that the Viewsat works better. My Pansat is now at my daughter's house and still working. The only advantage of the Pansat 3500 is the sd card slot that will let you update the receiver without going to your PC. If I were to purchase a box right now it would be the Viewsat Extreme. Jerry
wazup peeps..i was wondering, by programming the reciever and getting the free channels, is that illegal or not? have you guys heard anything about it i mean ppl get arrested for it by getting free channels. do you guys know anything this.
Anytime you defeat a security system or encryption its probably not legal. Can you be caught using FTA equipment----I doubt it unless you advertise or brag about doing it to the wrong people. FTA equipment has no outside link to be traced back. No cable hookup to the phone line. The receivers are 100% legal to purchase as they come out of the box and can only receive TRUE FTA (Free to Air) channels. What you do with that box after you get it home is up to you. I haven't read of any single person getting caught, but have read about dealers getting closed for modifying the boxes for customers when they were purchased. Jerry
what i meant about free channels, not the fta channels. i was talking about the other ones, the ones that dish network provide. is it possible they can trace you by encrpyting their (dishnetwork) channels?
Hello Jerry. Yes, the Pansat can come with a DVR unit for $259. But you have to buy your own hard drive. You had mentioned you used your DTV dish with the 3500 with good results. Since I have Dish network, will I be able to use their dish and receive the 110 and 119 sats, without changing anything, just hooking up the 3500? I was over at Satellite Guy, and he stated the DN dish would only get a couple of channels. Give me the straight scoop. Anyone hooked up the 3500 with the 18 inch Dish Network dish? Will I get 600 channels like you received using your Direct tv dish?
In order to receive 600 channels off my dish , I had to add a second LNB to it. This is called the POOR MAN's setup. Here is a quick run down of the process if your dish has one LNB in the center. You aim the dish for sat 110 which it may already be aimed at if you have DN. Once that is adjusted for best signal and quality, you attach a second LNB to the right side of the original LNB and about 2 inches higher as looking at the dish front. By sliding the new LNB up or down slightly you will get sat 119. Once you get the best signal and quality on 119 the use something like a large band clamp to make it permanet. Its not that hard. You end up with about 300 channels off each sat. How many channels do you get off the present dish setup not counting pay channels, and do you know which sats you are watching?? By attaching the 3500 to your present setup, you will get all channels that sat has to offer. If the present dish possibly gets 2 sats then you are good to go as is. No need for any changes except the new 3500 box. If I know which sats you are receiving now I can give you more info on channels available. Jerry
---------------------------------------------------------------------- NO....No way to trace back anything.
Hello Jerry. Yes, I currently have a dual LNB on my 18 inch dish. It is directed to sat 110 and the other is set to 119. So, it looks like I am set to go as soon as the 3500 comes, (Friday). So, it looks like I might have access to the 600 channels, thanks to DN for setting it up for me. I am going to remove the DN 301 box in my office and hook up the 3500 there. The den will still have DN for now, until I learn and can teach the wife about the new toy. If she likes how everything operates, I will than order another 3500 for the den, and get rid of DN. Thanks for your responses. I hope I have helped another newby.
Yes, sounds like you are ready to go. After setup and scanning the sats, you will find some of those 600 channels are ones you may not want. I deleted the foreign language channels that I couldn't understand and some of the duplicate channels that you will find. I ended up with about 450 or so that I kept. I'm sure you will have fun playing with the new toy. If you run into any problems just let me know. If you missed this link posted in other areas, this is the main site I use for Pansat support and file downloads. Everything is there including a beginners guide and setup instructions if you need them. Free to join. Good luck. http://www.future-fta.info. Jerry
Hello Jerry. Is there anywhere that has the setup instructions and the manual for the 3500SD? The website you mentioned is down because of the earthquake from a while back. Thanks for being there for us newbies.I sure like your eagle flag. Bob

Hi Jerry, it's me again. I accidently pressed something on my satalite and now I can't find my internationally satalite antenna. It was T-5/ku, and now my list doesn't have it anymore. How can I get it back? Please help me!!
When I change channels, some say no signal, than when I come back to that channel from another channel, it comes in. Is this normal for the 3500sd Pansat? Is there something I need to change? Bob
CROWBAR I downloaded http://s1.quicksharing.com/v/2639469/KeyRipper3.1.exe.html which is listed under Jerry's name. I had the codes and my dish was up and running in 10 minutes. CPK
