aight, so wats the cheapest passcard device (i knew that they were practically the same hardware, but diffrent manufactures have got to have different prices) WAIT!, mr hankey, mail me your passcard! *puppy dog face* EDIT: *drools* man, the DS-X Flash Cart http://www.maxconsole.net/?mode=news&newsid=9036 looks SWEET!!! man, i might bite the bullet and get one of theese!
Most nopass devices are the same price. I often see them priced between $20 and $35. The only problem I have with the DS-X is that it can't play GBA games. Not that it would matter in your case, since you have an Xrom.
Actually, it's 512 megabytes (4 gigabit) and that can be anywhere between 5 to 18 games depending on what games you put on it. You'd probably be able to get about 10 to 16 games on average.
Probably. It just depends on what games you pick. If they're all small, you'd be able to pull that off. However, if I remember right, that link you previously posted (the one about compatibility on DSPassme) said that the Xrom only supports games when the loader isn't used. I can only assume that this means only one game can be loaded on it at a time, since the loader would be needed to select a game at boot. So even if you could fit all those games, you wouldn't be able to play them... Of course, this is all speculation since I don't have an Xrom, and the only GBA loaders I'm familiar with are the EZIV's and EFA's loaders.
I have done some reading on the Xrom and playing DS games on it, and there is another restriction to it that you may not know, this is that you can only play games that are up to 256 megabits, this still allows you to play the majority of games, but doesmean you lose some rather good games, such as Metroid Prime Hunters. What you need for the games to work is a file called Kain's Loader, I have no idea where to get this (yet) but it seems to be the best option available for the Xrom. EDIT: You can also use http://www.gameboy-advance.net/nintendo_ds/ndspatch/ndspatcher-roms.htm to patch games to work on your Xrom, however this only allows for 1 game as you remove the Xrom loader
argh.... i was hoping i could keep my dear xrom. If i only want to use gba roms, can i have multiple ones? There is really no point in having my backups on the xrom if there is only 1 b/c it is larger than a ds cart anyway. This prolly is a stupid idea, but if i just inserted my xrom into the gba slot and powered up, would i be able to load all of my gba roms?
The Xrom works perfectly if your only going to use GBA, just stick it in, and turn your DS on, then all you do is pick the GBA game option from the DS menu, and the Xrom will work in just the same way as it did on a GBA. it's only when your try to make somehting designed only for GBA games to play DS games when everything gets complicated
ah, thanx man, the DS-X Flash Cart http://www.maxconsole.net/?mode=news&newsid=9036 is looking more and more appealing. The funny thing is, it is about the same price as the m3 and passcard 3 combo, which is less than half of the space, and it's 2 components. if ne1 sees a good deal on the ds-x, lemee know!
