The 8800GT, it's about 15% faster, and nowadays seemingly the same price.

    Rob,
It's interesting that when I google the Manufacturers part number from MicroCenter's add, I get this!
    http://processorfinder.intel.com/details.aspx?sSpec=SLAWQ
    C1 Stepping!

    Rob,
No need to do that. I wasn't questioning you, I just ran it through google, which took me to Intel's page using the box number MC provided. I thought it was funny! LOL!!

The 8800GT would be the better choice. I remember Sam regretting his choice when his 3870 gave him so many problems.

The nearest MicroCenter is 50 miles in Tustin. They have them in stock, although I don't know how many. Given the population of this area, I would imagine they would have a number of them unless Intel is limiting how many of the E0 stepping they can get.

If you would like, order one on line from there and I will have it picked up for you and then ship it to you. Just tell them the Tustin CA store is where it will be picked up!

    Best Regards,
    Russ

boozer Patriot has been known to be "one" of those companies to avoid in the past. Have you had some experience with them or any friends?? Just curious as I'm not in the market for 4GB of RAM atm.. but it's not to far away me thinks. :)

Well I've never used it. It had good reviews on newegg so I didn't think it would have many problems.

The HD3870 was much better with later drivers (8.4 onwards) but that doesn't take from the fact it was noticeably slower than the 8800GT.

92 dollars, that's epic. The nearest competitor to it at stock is at least 20 bucks more.

Of course the E5200 does OC quite a bit... 4Ghz under decent air cooling.

The E5200 is a fair bit slower stock though, the E7200 is the comparison chip I used, and even then I'm not sure.

    Gotta love overclocking :)

The E6750 is faster than a X2 6000+ from all the tests I have seen. That's at a stock 2.66Ghz.

Yes but when they stopped selling that it ran for $190. The 6000+ costs less than half that.
