Hey Sypher i posted a reply in the other forum as well to you.

When you say dont touch those pics, you means the pins i said that broke?

I will handle the new one very carefully when i get it

one more question. Why do you think the one i have now is 77 dollars and the you that you recomended that has more clock speed and everythign only 62 dollars?

the difference is that the one you have has a 6600 GPU (graphics processing unit ~ or something like that lol) which in some cards is a better thing as its a high end GPU but the rest of the specs let it down.

the 6500 is a mid range GPU made for mid range activitys but because it has higher clock speeds it means the card is faster.

thats whats making the price difference. also you may notice that the 6500 doesnt have a fan which will affect the price slightly, dont let that worry that it doesnt have a fan, this actually means your pc will be quieter with this card which is always a bonus

also yes i do mean those pins that you broke, you shouldnt touch them

    Ok cool thanks again,

i dont have to worry about the card overheating oranything like that if it doesnt have a fan?

it has a larger heatsink to compensate for not having a fan, also if your only playing emulator games then i doubt its even possible to overheat the card. if your concerned about the heat being an issue spend the extra few dollars youve saved on some fans for your case to keep the air flowing through

    Hey Sypher,

What are the advantages with a DVI compared to a VGA

hey sypher sent a PM back to you, did you get it?

Also when i opened up my case last night it had a huge fan right in the middle, i think for the motherboard. Will that keep the graphics card cool as well

the fan in the middle is probably the processor fan,

case fans are attached onto the meta of the case, theres usually at least a space for one at the back,

so long as there are air holes in your case the card should stay pretty cool,

DVI is better quality but you can only tell if you have a HD-TV

There are air holes on my case on the side of it. Do you think im going to need a fan if i get this card?

For the DVI i meant my 19 inch lcd flat screen has a DVI input on it.
Will i be able to tell the difference on the monitor and if so, what is the difference?

you shouldnt need to buy any fans, you may notice a difference in the quality when watching movies if you use the DVI input on your monitor but the only real way to tell would be to compare the two for yourself, try playing a movie using the RGB lead then try the same with the DVI cable to see if you notice any difference.

if you are concerened that the card may overheat then buy some case fans to put your mind at rest but i seriously doubt youll need to.

Hey Sypher did you read that post in the "Best Nvidea Card" thread?

Also i ran into a couple problems last night. First, My 45 dollar 20 foot monster svideo cable broke. The two pins broke off when i was trying to put the one end in the computer. I geuss i have to be carefull with those? are these known issues with svideo? should i just keep it plugged into both ends instead of unplugging then plugging it back in all the time?

Also I don’t know if this has to do with my 70 dollar graphics card or not but I have the epsxe playstation1 emulator and I have the crash bandicoot .iso and the grand theft auto vice city and part 3 .iso. Now the crash bandicoot plays fine but that is a playstation1 game. For Grand theft auto, When I go to File-Loadiso all that happens is I get a black screen and it doesn’t load. I looked in a bunch of forums and some people said that grand theft auto is only compatible with playstation 2 emulators and high end graphics cards. Do you know if this has to do with anything with my graphics card or if vice city and part 3 only work for playstation 2 emulators, if not do you know how I could play this game?

Appreciate the expertise and help Sypher,
    Thanks

    Well a little update here.

I decided to not only play emulator games like nes and sega but have been having alot of fun playing pc games including vice city for the pc, sims and a bunch of others.

Last week i bought that 77 dollar evga 256 MB 6600le graphics card one of the people in this thread recommended to me. But that was when i told him i was only gonna be watching movies and playing ninetendo games.
Since i am going to be playing these high end 3d games, should i be upgrading my card?
    If so, any suggestions?

that card is pretty good, its midrange so it will play anything at a decent level of quality, you only need to upgrade if your interested in playing games at their highest quality, but youd also need to get more system memory aswell as if iremeber right you only have 512 meg, really you need at least 1 gig for gaming

both those cards are exactly the same... plus the one you have isnt much different to either of those...

compare them yourself... the areas circled in red are what you looking for
    [IMG]
the higher those numbers the better the card
