PC w/no OS, hd not recognized

    so right now that drive is not seen on either computer correct?? you've tried different cables & changed the jumper settings but still not seen by either computer. so leads me to believe the hd has crapped out so is up to you what you want to do??

    just read through the post from the start and very first post says

    this suggests the drive is fine? formatting the drive shouldnt affect bios seeing it.....
    try putting the drive on ide by itself (also nothing on secondary ide at all),put it on primary IDE and set it as master and with jumpers on drive- as soon as you get post go to BIOS...cant see why drive would die after re-format

    I don't know, maybe I was handling it wrong or doing something I wasn't supposed to, I was winging it.

    First computer I ever took apart, I took the hard drive out of the computer, set it with all the electronics face down on a sheet of metal and turned the computer on. Yep. Pretty cool. But the hard drive don't work no more.
