Peculiar DVD/RW drive Problem with Windows Vista

My DVD drive will not recognize any of the 4 discs in the Lord of the Rings Two Towers...extended version, but works fine with any other disc(s) I can play the discs on my home theatre system and have no problem running them on 2 other computers using Windows XP. with one of them having the very sasme drive that I have.

When I put the disc in nothing happens, then when I click on the drive to play, the drawer opens and asks me to put in a disc.it is never able to recognize that a disc is already in the drive.

This made me think there was some software conflict but have been unable to trace this back with any success. When I Googled the problem I found there were others having similar difficulties but could find nothing to help me. I have already updated all my drivers for Video card, Disc Drive, Windows Vista etc.

    Any ideas out there?
