    Good morning everyone,
    Here's my story :)

    I bought a Dell Dimension 8400 in January 2005.
It came with the "much hated" Philips DVD8631 <evil grin>...

Had the latest CD21 firmware on there.
I did burn 1 or 2 DVD on there but that's it.
I have Nero Burning Rom v6.6.0.8
I only have DVD-R at home.

I was getting burn errors with nero. So I said what the hell, let's make this drive a BenQ DW1620 drive.
I know it will void my warranty but I will take that risk and live with it.

I flashed it using the Windows Flasher and B7T9.vct file.
Then upgraded with the try BenQ B7U9 firmware.

I am still getting errors with Nero saying:

Bitsetting change not supported for DVD-R....
How can I turn that off for DVD-R ?

I'm so fed up with this BenQ DW1620 !

My solution (That isn't free) is I will remove this Benq DW1620 and keep it in a box. I will either install my LG 4040B or buy a brand new LG 4163B and put it in there.

I've been so happy with my LG4040B I will stick with LG, but I hear good reviews on Plextor !

Ah yes, would this BenQ DW1620 work better with DVD+R ?

    Comments anyone ?
