I burned the DVD files (see previous post) to a DVD-RW disk using Pinnacle to burn from previously created files and that was OK. But as I thought, there was some loss of alignment between the raw video file and the timeline after I re-captured. Transitions are not happening at the scene changes. They are about 1 second off, but I can fix that by deleting and re-inserting the clips. Re: awileydog's comments, I am running Nero and Pinnacle and they seem to co-exist OK. I had a problem with an earlier version of Nero that can burn DVD's when I tried to run "SETI at home" at the same time. It slowed Nero to almost a stop. Ian
Alan Thanks for the effort on shaking the Pinnacle tree... can you post the link you sent your complaint to here please? Colin
Colin - and others - the site has changed now that they have Studio 10 available. I loaded Studio, then went to Help/Technical Support. The following link should take you there : http://pinnacle.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/pinnacle.cfg/php/enduser/ask.php It seems difficult to contact them. Needless to say I haven't had a reply. Allan
Thanks Alan I have let them know my thoughts! Auto response as below: The reference number for your question is 'xxxxxx-xxxxxx'. You should receive a response by email from our support department within the next 1 - 2 business day (excluding weekends and holidays). I eagerly await the response.... Colin
Good Colin. The more people who complain about the software not doing the job, the better. I'm off on holiday early Friday (21st) for 2 weeks - please don't take any lack of reply as a lack of interest. Best Wishes Allan
Look here on Pinnacles site..and click [bold]UPGRADE TO STUDIO 10, find out why[/bold].....Even this doesn't work http://www.pinnaclesys.com/PublicSi.../DV+Devices/DV+device+compatibility+list26659 Two weeks later....... It works
Hello fellow Studio users I'm having an issue and I'm not sure if I'm in the right forum to ask but I will anyway. I have Studio Plus 9.4.3.70. After importing a DVD title that is about 60min long. I insert it in the filmstrip and if I go to Make Movie - DVD, It says that my project is too big for the disc and it would only be at 40%. Why? I thought you could fit about 120min on a blank DVD+R? I've used Studio for stuff with my sony handycam and everything works great for making full DVD's. I'm guessing it has something to do with the MPG file it makes? Any help would be great. I have not found anyone else talking about this issue. Thanks, sta98
astalker and all the crew, I started this thread long time ago and I did not know that it will be big, Wooww, I am very sorry to not answer to this topic, I was very very busy at business and family. My apologies. I could fix the problem only if I started from scratch, format , install the windows xp pro and install just the pinnacle 9 plus. I am not sure if it has to be with all the software that I had, maybe it creates conflict with the render, who knows, but it is very bad this program it is not well done. Also, I got pinnacle 10 plus with the DVD suite, I still have not installed it but I will let you know later when I have time what happened. REgarding the HD space, I do not think that was my case, I have two partitions, 1 for the OS and 1 for other stuff and I had free from my 100 GB , around 25 GB, so who who knows, version 9 plus was a crap , believe me a lot of users had a lot of technical problem with this software, I like the inferface, the idea but it did not work for me at all. Good luck Ray
Sta98, Blank DVD's hold 4.7 gigabytes anyway that is what mine are. I am not sure if they make them to hold more. If you have a 60 min. video that probably adds up to more than 4.7 gig. You will either have to compress it more or I think there is a program that helps with this. Not sure what it is called. I think it is called dvd shrink or something like that. Maybe someone else can help in that department. Or you may need to cut your video down. I hope this helps.
FWIW - I have had the same problem since July. Have been hoping Pinnacle would come up with a software patch to fix it, especially as so many were reporting the same problem. I will not be putting money down for version 10 - frankly I'm surprised they would even suggest it. They haven't delivered on version 9, why would they expect a customer to spend more money on version 10? I have basically started looking for a replacement from someone else. Large companies sometimes lose sight of reality - I think Pinnacle is one of them.
The DVD I am importing has one 60min title on it. It fits fine on a DVD+R, I just wanted to edit the commercials out of it and add a chapter menu. The problem is that when Studio imports the DVD title, it creates a file that ends up being too large to fit on a disc. How do I get around this? If anyone knows of a good knowledge base about problems like this, please let me know. Thanks! sta98
Allan Please add me on msn messenger rayosx@hotmail.com I would like to chat with you , do not email me to this email because I do not check that , it is for spam purposes, just that thanks RAy
Attention Guys and Gals Any of you who tried 10 plus yet ? Let me know I am very interested I will let you know in some days what happend with the version 10 it the problem persists or not, etc Ray
Just a quick note to say I DID get an email reply from Pinnacle -- a new tech. said they hope to have a "fix patch" fairly soon. At least we got their attention.
That would be great! If they do get a patch to fix the rendering problem with Studio 9 I may even reinstall it on my computer
Hi Ray, I've been having the same problem, but only with one particular video which is a large movie. Smaller ones are rendering fine (when I say small, around 30 minutes)
I hope Pinnacle read through these pages, and feel so guilty about providing people with faulty goods that they bow their heads in shame. A gesture of good will however would be to provide all registered users/purchases of Studio 8/9 a free copy of studio 10. This I'm sure would help recompense users for the trouble and lost time spent using Pinnacles faulty products.
I also have problem burning CDs. Every time I burn a CD (I'm making copies of the same holiday for family members, so I'm not adding any video files to the computer), there is less and less space on my hard drive (C) and now I can't burn CDs anymore. I get the message "not enough space on C drive". I have emptied everything I can, which solved the problem for a couple of burnings, but not anymore. Somewhere Studio 9 is creating HUGE back-up files, but where? I went to documents, my videos and emptied that too, but that didn't do the trick. Please help.
GJN, If you look at the "Make Movie" window, you will see a small file folder icon to the left of "Settings". Click on that and it will tell you where the auxiliary files are going. You are right that they can be huge. Ian
