I have pioneer dvr-106d. it was working fine for the last 3 months. but now it wont recognize any disks, including cdr.

When i try and use neo dvd. it says 'failed to load burn engine' nero says 'failed to initialize device#!

could it be that the laser is knackered?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
    thanx.

    sajjio,

Go to device manager, hardware, DVDs, find your drive, right-click it, select uninstall, when you are cautioned, ignore the warning and uninstall. Close out of everything, reboot and let your PC find it and reinstall it.

Should that not work, get all the latest updates and firmware upgrade flash.

Let's see what that does shall we -

Give us a yell back when you're done and let us know how you made out -

    cheers,

    Pete

    Thanx for the reply!

Unfortunatly Ive still got the same prob!

It takes ages for the light to stop.

After I tried what u suggested, I phoned the pc store I purchased it from. The bloke said I have to pay £20 to have it looked at! ( I only get it back if its faulty) Do u think the laser or motor or somethings knackered?
Checking the receipt, Ive only had it a month and a half!

    Thanx.

    sajio,

Chances are that if it's that new, it's fine - did you do a flash ?

In the states, most everything like DVD burners have at least 1 year mfg. warrantee - If you feel it's the drive, contact the mfg support team -
