Most downloads are usually in AVI format but could be other types of files also. They usually need converted to proper dvd format before burning them to a blank. Here is one guide that should get you started. http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/convert_avi_to_dvd.cfm Jerry
Heres a very simple program that will convert your avi's to dvd:http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/video_encoders/vso_divxtodvd.cfm
for one thing it sound like you burning your movies to a data disc if you cant play it, If you not then you not doing it right, I used Neros express 2 to burn my movies to dvd, it could be either (avi, mpeg, vso, or any format that you program can used) check you properties, or search for it make sure if in the right settling when you burn it
You cant just burn avi's and mpegs in nero express, or burning rom, or whatever, and expect them to play in all dvd players, they have to be authored first. Nerovision express, yes but nero express,no
