    Hi all,

I'm really new at this so please bear with me. I am using DVD Flick to convert from AVI to DVD format. When I play back in my PSP2, we noticed that the audio and video gets "jerky" when there's a scene transition (fade to black, then new scene). I played it on my laptop with Inter video Win DVD and the audio is ok but the video is still a bit jerky. Using Windows Media Player, same thing, audio is ok, but video is still a bit jerky. I play it on my regular DVD player on the TV, and I don't get the jerkiness at all, but my audio gets behind (very noticeably) behind the video.

I'm using DVD Flick to convert AVI to ISO and then Nero 7 to burn the ISO. I believe I've noticed the scene change issues in the past when I had actual DVD and ripped with RipItForMe/DVD Decrypter and Nero to burn but never got around to fixing it.

Any ideas? If it's because I'm using free programs, I wouldn't even mind paying (up to about $50 USD) for a better program.

    thanks in advance!

Try converting the avi using FAVC.
It performs pulldown on 25fps sources and I think gives better sync than DVD flick.
Play the DVD with VLC in preference to WMP.

Thanks! I will give FAVC a go later today. Do you think this will also help with the problems on my DVD player itself?

    I don't know.
Compare the conversions by playing the output files (in the DVD folders) to see if they playback ok.
Then play the disks on the PC - then the DVD player.
At each step there should be no difference.

If the files play ok on the PC and since DVD Flick and FAVC both use ImgBurn (probably the best burning software at any price) - and making sure you are using quality disks (Verbatim or Taiyo-Yuden) you eliminate the conversion and burning and media as being a source of trouble.

I downloaded and am running the eye for FAVC and when I hit generate I get an error saying that an attempt was made to load a program with an incorrect format. No idea what that's all about. Does this with any avi.

Yep, those are there. Unless it doesn't like where they are.

You can feel free to give me the moron of the day award. I totally missed that. I got that x64 version and now it's running, a command prompt window opened and also an HCend0.23 window and it's doing something. I just took all the default settings except I changed it to make ISO or whatever. Anything else I should have changed?

Also - to test it on the PC, since I'm going to ISO, I can use virtual clone drive. Is that a good test? I'm not sure how to play the vob files and such.

    thanks!

Using VLC (the version I use), you can 'Open Directory' which opens the VIDEO_TS folder.
Or you can drag an .iso onto the VLC shortcut.

Ok I'll give that a try when it's done doing what it's doing now. Might be tomorrow morning since it says it has a over an hour left. I have to put VLC on this machine since now it's only on my laptop at this point.

    thanks!

The file finished overnite and I used VLC to play the iso and also the folder and all looked great. I then burned the ISO and played it in media player and it looked fine (no skipping and audio in sync) and then played on the PSP and finally on the regular DVD player and it all looks great.

thanks for your help! looks like I have some new software to use.
