If you're talking about the XBOX or PS2, you will need either broadband or high-speed internet service. Then after that if you're talking about XBOX you'll have to buy an XBOX live starter kit or just buy headphones seperate. Im not completely sure if you need the starter kit to get online. For the PS2 you'll need the high-speed internet or broadband and i think one of those starter cd's. There are also Ethernet things you can use to connect online. Hope i helped some. But get back to us notifying which game system you're talking about.

I forgot to add, if you like RPG gaming go to Runescape.com (computer game) and that is a game you can play online. Also, the Nintendo Ds is coming out with online capabilites. PSP (even though DS is better in MY OPINION) also has online capabilites. If you are a hardcore online gamer the DS or PSP are needs! Toiletman here will probably say the same.

depends if console has built in lan or you might have to get a lan adapter. should check the ps2 forum below as might get more info there. as you have a computer might want to get a linksys router so both the computer & ps2 can be online at same time & they are about $50Can.

I dont play online either, but i know stuff about it because i looked into it since i am going to get online gaming soon. For those kind of games, you need to make sure that they are online enabled, and just hook your high speed internet or broadband into the back of your PS2. Im not sure if you even need an ethernet cable. And if you use your high speed internet there will be no extra bills im sure for playing online, but if you pay for how long you are on and you are constantly playing online then obviously your bill is going to be higher. Hope i helped once again. Any other questions just ask and i will try and answer them.
