The same can be said for Swap Magic 3,you can boot up a PAL disc into NTSC mode and vice versa at the start up screen, however the screen will still be missing some parts at the bottom during the game.(Use a screen adjuster to move the picture up).
"Colin McRae Rally 2005 - Can't be patched with either program. Use a Modchip that can convert the signal for you." Wrong. I did the patch with Y-fix and it succesfully worked.
Quick question on the SLES file in Colin McRae Rally 2005. When the patch is applied, does the original appear like an NTSC code and the backup is a PAL code?
I've surfed through this webpage and jus to make sure that I'm reading things correctly ... If I have a PAL game and I'd like to play it on my NTSC PS2, I'll have to purchase either a modchip or Swap Magic 3.6 and then, patch the game in order to play it on my PS2. Purchasing a modchip or Swap Magic 3.6 won't be enough to play the game on the NTSC PS2? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Nick
Nick If you want to play back up PS2 games you will need some form of Mod Chip or Swap Disc method. To play PAL games on a NTSC PS2,you will need to either patch the ISO of the game you want to back up with a PAL to NTSC patch or use a special boot function the Mod Chip or Swap Disc has to boot a PAL game into NTSC mode. However, some games cannot be patched or converted but its a small percentage. The best way to play PAL games on a NTSC machine is to get a signal converter for your TV.It`s mentioned in this thread earlier on.
Cookieboy, Capisce. I wasn't sure if I still had to patch the game if I purchased a Modchip or Swap Magic. I'll look for a signal converter for the TV ... Are those only available via the internet or are the readily available in stores? Thanks again for your help. Nick
Nick,I have seen the Signal converters on the Internet quite often especially from Modchip sites.I live in Japan and I havn`t seen these products anywhere here in the stores but I can order them from Hong Kong. http://www.chipzone.com/marketplace...e_SystemPID=346272&VendorID=35&ClientID=11052 This is an example of a PAL to NTSC converter taken from a post earlier in his thread.Just make sure its ok with your TV. Hope this helps. Cookie
I use SwapMagic v3.6 and notice some games come out OK & some do not. When selecting the NTSC option (to play a PAL game) it sometimes stretches the screen. King Kong cuts off the top & bottom of the screen. In normal mode (PAL), it doesn't cut off the screen but the signal is all wack. Would using converter software fix this? Or am I hosed w/out a signal converter?
Unfortunately xhardcore, the only way to remedy the situation is to get a signal converter.I have many PAL games that have been patched to NTSC and some I boot with SWAP Magic 3.6 and they are always missing a portion of the bottom.I sometimes change the offset to 56 in the ISO patch to get more of the bottom part showing and less of the top, useful for games that have a lot of status bars at the bottom of the screen.
Do any of you guys know if I should patch a PAL Metal Gear Solid 3 to an NTSC, or is that unnecessary? Does the PAL MGS3 possess the option of changing it from PAL to NTSC onscreen? Thanks guys !!!!
Hi, I'm sort of a noob here, but I just got a couple of torrents that finished downloading, and they were all PAL. I burned each game and something really weird happens with it on my PS2...it's like the PS2 logo shows up, then the screen starts rolling from top to bottom, top to bottom, kinda like a movie reel that's going really slowly. I can't explain it any more than that, but the screen 'aint centred. And this has happened to all my PAL games. Isn't there any way to fix this problem, without using any money?
@[bold]Zero242[/bold], I suggest you read this: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/252193 Your question is covered in there. I get about 10 questions like yours every day. Someone was nice enough to put a really simple way to do this, check it out: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/252193
Hi, I was wondering if anyone knew if Smackdown vs Raw 2006 PAL could be patched with either method. I downloaded it and I applied the Y-Fix patch and burnt it on a velocity dvd with alcohol on the slowest speed i think (2.3 or something). I tried it on my ps2 and I got the ps2 logo and sound to pop up and then just a black screen. I have a my ps2 moddded too, but I think it is an older chip. Did anyone else have any sucess with this game? Thanks in advance.
qlynt, I am having the EXACT same problem. Someone on the forum was nice enough to send me a converter, but after patching the game, i get a "Playstation 2" message, then only a black screen. I also used Alcohol 120.
I posted this problem on another forum, and one member said he got it to work burning it on a verbatim 8x dvd at 4x with the same patcher method. I am wondering if I'm doing it wrong, I never really had any trouble burning any games on my spindle of velocity 8x dvds.
I patched with the ADR just now and burned it on the same media at 3.9x and it works on my playstation. I used the same velocity dvd-r's, but it doesn't fit in the screen really well when I am playing. I wonder why ADR worked for me but the y-fix didn't.
In Reply to: For cd-rom games, I suggest using burnatonce. Using burnatonce 0.99.5 - http://dl.afterdawn.com/bao0995.exe Create an ISO File Select Read/Copy-->Read to Image. Click ok and save as ISO Image File type. Burn an ISO File Select File-->Load New Image. Load and burn the ISO Image File. The program patches and overwrites your orignal ISO file. Select your orignal ISO file. ***Sometimes the web site is temporarily unavailable because the site often exceeds its allocated data transfer. If the link doesn't work for you, try this link: http://img215.exs.cx/img215/776/ps2pal2ntscyfixsource8rr.jpg Just save the link to your hard drive. Then, right click on it and select Open With-->Choose Program-->Winrar Archiver. Then click extract to and extract the files to your hard drive. If that patch method doesn't work, try the ADR Patcher. This has no y-fix option, so the screen will be a little off center. You can see if the game has an option in the menu for screen adjustment. 1)Download adr patcher: http://img167.exs.cx/img167/2601/adrpatcher059ap.jpg Just save the link to your hard drive. Then, right click on it and select Open With-->Choose Program-->Winrar Archiver. Then click extract to and extract the files to your hard drive. 2)Run adr_patcher.exe 3)Click browse and select the iso file of the game 4)Select .PS2 PAL -> NTSC PATCH ROUTINE (NO Y POS) 5)Select Begin Search. 6)The program will search for locations to patch the game. When it finishes, patch the file. 7)Burn the patched .iso file Here is a list of some PAL games and recommendations for viewing the game on NTSC consoles. Games in Bold have a PAL/NTSC selector and don't need to be patched. -----I was able to get SNK VS Capcom SVC Chaos (PAL version) to be patched through the program found at ( http://img215.exs.cx/img215/776/ps2pal2ntscyfixsource8rr.jpg). Works great! Thanks!!
Hi Ace_2: I would like to know how do you patched colin mcrae rally 2005 and how does it work. I have heard that it can't be patched but you said that you do it. What programs you used? Please help me. The World Rally Championship beggins tomorrow and i'm a little inspired. Thanks!
Thought I would let you guys know in case anyone is keeping a list, following the directions in the first post of this thread I patched Resident Evil Code Veronica X flawlessly, it's in full color and looks totally normal now. Before, it was only playing in black & white. Thanks.
