First off if your looking to backup Games to the HDD your going to first need a bigger HDD! The Stock 8Gib Formated! 10Gib Phisiacal HDD is not going to be big enough for you to do anything with! Second it sounds to me like your have a SOftmod. Now unless you have some really Madskilz at running a Network / Computer. I'd really recomend you try to figure out (usually done by looking at the Video Encoder Chip!!), which XBOX™ Version you have. (e.g. v1.0 ~ v1.6a/b), and then get a reall Modchip!

But, to answer your question you need to use mIRC and login to the efnet Server and join the #xbins Channel. There you can download a few Programs, like 'ConfigMagic' (EEPROM HDD Lock / Unlock Tool), 'BoxPlorer' (A Windows Exploer / Norton Commmader type App.), and 'DVD2XBOX' (Game & Audio Disc Riper),

If you have your XBOX™ connected to your Network you could also download a Program called Quixx! that can also Rip Game Discs' into .XISO's which you can then burn on blank Media, and run on a Moded XBOX™...
