please help me

    i have a Philips DVDR 1660P1 and keep getting error messages on my disks whem buring is it my firmware i think it is
    can some one tell me where to download my firmware for this dvd rw
    as i cant find it any where
    also i dont know how to install firmware
    my firmware is p1.3 at the moment

    The latest is P1.6 - here's a link.
    The will be a file in this download that will try you how to update the firmware.
    it's pretty easy - only takes a few minutes.

    cheers for link .but im not sure what to do when o go to the web page as it only has to files i can click on .
    one is a update link the other is a firmware link but there not for my model .
    its for another model the SPD1400BD/00
    i want firmware for this model Philips DVDR 1660P1
    .
    but thers nothing when i click on model search it says no matches for this search
    am i doing somthing wrong

    thaks i just sorted it i updated my firmware to 1.6 cheers.
    but i have one more question
    i can record on my disks at these speeds on datawrite - disks using nero 7 2x 4x 8 x but i dont know what speed to use as before if i used the higher speeds i got errors
    and if i use higher speeeds will the disks play in all dvd players

    Sorry about that labajue I forgot to mention that those are the same models for this drive - glad you sorted that out!

    Datawrite uses different manufacturers - some good and some bad.
    So pop a blank disc in the drive. In Nero SmartStart go to ToolKit>cd-dvd speed>disc info tab.
    Check the manufacturer.
    If it's MCC, TY, Ritek, Ricoh try 8x - should be good.
    It's what I burn at on good media.

    Any other manufacturers show up - take it down to 4x.
