please help - optiarc ad 7200s - having firmware issue - need help badley

i got a dell computer that has this dvd+rw drive - optiarc ad-7200s , ( which i guess is a pretty decent burner from what i have read ) but this is my question , i think the firmware is 101 a possibley , i went to the sony/ nec site and it has a firmware update for 1.06 . do i need to upgrade to this firmware or is the one i have correct . also what does the firmware update do for the drive as it gives no indication of what it improves and last how do you do a firmware update . many thanks for any help
