Get a nokia dbox2, in debug mode, (nokias are more stable than sagems)
and if you care about cosmetics get one with no LCD stripes, with front cover.

It will probably need software loaded onto it, so would need a cat 5 crossover cable.

If you have doubts then post the link to the proposed ebay auction you are thinking of buying from

I have written a guide buying from ebay here

Well others have bought from him and got them fine. I just dont like his dubious ads for the dbox 1's. But I have bid on his stuff before, only noticed now.

You gave him 470 for 5, that is well below the going rate for dbox2's. I would expect 3 fully working nokia dbox2s for that price. He has shit loads of them so I would ask if you can return the 5 for 3 dbox2's that way you get what you want and he still gets a sale, and ebay do not get their money grabbing mits on more money.

Tell him if they arrive and are good you will post it on the forums. I have no doubt he is reading this thread anyway!

Does the D-Box2 work for Sky Digital? If so is it difficult to set-up?

Are you sure your fathers feed is connected to a true cable network.
Chorus mmds is not functional with a dbox.

He is connected to the chorus digital service. Tried using my sagem dbox2 while he was out but didnt have correct freq or symb so it was pointless really.

Upload the irish cables.xml to /var/tuxbox/config at a sportster image and delete the file scan.conf in the same folder. Unplug, wait a little bit and replug. Select chorus cable at the provider line in the scan menue.
At some UK based images the cables.xml goes to /share/tuxbox.

If you used the irish cables.xml you have to delete scan.conf in the /var/tuxbox/config folder and unplug the box.
At some UK based images the new cables.xml goes to /share/tuxbox.
If you ftp to the box you are landing in the var folder.

Maximum penalty for selling illicit devices is 12 month prison in Ireland.
A box ready configured with autoupdate keys is a illicit device.
The whole thing is not a kindergarten game.
