I own a Memorex MVDR2102A DVD-Recorder. I have a bunch of wmv files that I simply want to convert in such a way so that they play as FILES but NOT vob files.

Why you ask? file size. A 10 minute wmv file I have is 10MBs. I tried the software mentioned on this site called "convert x to dvd" and it created a file size of 500 mb!

I know that my DVD Recorder can handle data files because here's what it says in the manual

    PLAYABLE MPEG 4 FORMATS:
This player can only playback the following AVI files:
    • AVI file with XviD codec (4CC code: XVID)
    • AVI file with 3ivX codec (4CC code: 3IV1 or 3IV2)
    • AVI file with FFvfw codec (4CC code: FVFW)
NOTE: If the AVI or MPEG files have other codecs, the files will not be played.

I've also tried converting to MPEG4 formats. The recorder recognizes it as a data file but doesn't play it.

I'm so frustrated. I don't mind purchasing a shareware version of SOMETHING but don't know which to use. I even downloaded the DIVX converter and that seemed useless as it didn't provide options as to how I wanted the file converted.

I also need a editor (cutter) as well.

    MPEG4, MP4, codec, container, 4cc & 3iv1 HUH?

Can anyone steer me in the right direction?

    Thanks much in advance

Super or AutoGK should be able to convert them for you.
