I only use -R because it is more compatible with all my standalones, I have one that will not play +R. Here is a Nero log file from my 640c, maybe you can compare it to yours.

As you can see I do have InCD on my system but it has never conflicted with my burning, however some people do have problems with it. If it is ripping and burning a movie you are trying to do try using another program to insure it is not the drive. You can also try another brand of media.

Target size is set in the encoding software: In Shrink, you will find it in File then Preferences then Preferences (again) and set target size to custom which should be between 4300-4360. In Nero, open up Nero Recode 2 and you will see block "fit to target", again use custom to resize to somewhere between 4300-4360.

The HP 640I series is a +/- burner, so it doesn't matter which format disks you use. Make sure you have the latest firmware for your HP burner. Maxell's are excellent disks in either the + or - format. However, in your Nero History post, I can't find where you media is listed except as "unknown". Try another quality brand media.

Remove InCD, lower target size and try again. If not successful, repost the Nero history again.
