I'm guessing his budget is 1000-1200 USD. EDIT: I love it how in that video it says "Optionally install case fan". Like that's optional these days.
ya, i put 1 minimum in the computes i build, but usually 2. i really love the ones that come in the thermaltake cases, they dont have a 3pin connector, but they are so quite you cant here them!
Well for a decent spec PC I think two should be minimum. You gotta have atleast one intake in front and one exhaust in the back.
Mike, I think the 8600 Gt is a waste of money when its performance is a little less than the 7600 GT. BTW what kind of RAM is that. I mean like speed, and latency.
I just shop at canada computers, and all the 7600 are more money, the ram is 800MHz, and 5-5-5-12, (2.2v)
Ok, they are about 80 at newegg. BTW that Crucial memory is 1000 Mhz, and people have it running at 4-4-4-12 timings at that speed. So I think that memory might be a better choice. Oh and if you are in Florida(or maybe it goes for the entire US) Tiger Direct charges you sales tax. To go around this shop at Global Computers, no tax there.
Lol, well if you order it from them they don't charge you tax. If you have friends in the US you can get it shipped to them and go pick it up. I noticed things tend to be more expensive in Canada then in the US. I buy phones here sometimes and sell them in Canada. I usually make about a 100 dollars on each phone. BTW that memory I was talking about, well I have the same one and I just changed the timings to 4-4-4-12 and so far so good. So it can run at these timings.
Hehe, optional case fan? Most of the PCs I spec have at least three! While I'm passionate about building PCs, I also like keeping them quiet. More fans actually equals less noise, if done right, because each fan can be slower. I don't like Thermaltake fans. One of mine broke. How does a fan BREAK? it stopped turning and then the connector got really hot. All attempts to power it out of the case gave the same result. As for the self-build, I'm saying go with what Abuzar put down, but with this power supply http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139001&Tpk=Corsair+520W I suppose to compete with the dell maybe we ought to add a quad core. So then, here's what I recommend: CPU: EITHER Core 2 Duo E6750 $212 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115029&Tpk=E6750 OR Core 2 Quad Q6600 $295 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115017 Motherboard: GA-965P-DS3 $110 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...-_-Motherboards+-+Intel-_-GIGABYTE-_-13128012 RAM: Corsair XMS2 PC6400 2GB $116 ($40 rebate) Graphics card: GeForce 8800GTS $310 ($30 rebate, free game) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150173 Hard Drive: Samsung 500GB $120 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822152052&Tpk=Samsung+500GB DVD-RW: Samsung $30 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827151133 Case: NZXT Lexa Blackline $100 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811146038&Tpk=Lexa+Blackline (Case is pretty much personal preference, go with something that can take, or has lots of 120mm fans) PSU: Corsair $170 ($30 rebate) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139002&Tpk=Corsair+620W Floppy/card reader $19 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16821104104 Freezer 7 Pro cooler $35 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835186134&Tpk=Freezer+7+Pro Arctic silver V $6 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835100007 That's $1228 or $1321 depending on which processor you get, but with $100 of rebates, and a free game you can probably ebay to get some additional cashback.
It also depends on the case. I sometimes use aftermarket hsf and I am not counting the 2 80mm or 1 120mm fan the PSUs I use have. I had the same problem with the fan in a zalman cpu cooler, I need to find a 92mm fan to replace it.
Nor me, I said 3 case fans. My PC has 7 fans in total, and my graphics card is fanless, and I have single fan power supply.
lol, i think i pasted it in the wrong window: http://canadacomputers.com/index.php?do=ShowProduct&cmd=pd&pid=009739&cid=CS.664
With most cases, like the Matrix, you'll have to either find a windowed side that happens to be the right size (unlikely), or do the job yourself. Typically, if you want a windowed case, you buy one.
I did that last time, and it when really bad. . . . really really bad! I would have got this: http://canadacomputers.com/index.php?do=ShowProduct&cmd=pd&pid=009735&cid=CS.664 but it was more then what i wanted to spend
Well, then no window for you I'm afraid! Specific Thermaltake cases do have 'window panel's you can buy but these are usually different windows for already windowed cases to allow the use of bigger fans.
