I would say that all of my drives are equally audible. That was not so in my MSI tower. I believe the LG was the loudest out of all of them. I wish I needed one of the lite-ons. I might consider buying it, and shelving it. So that when the LH quits, I have a backup. Cause I currently have both the LH and iHAP taking my single IDE port, and my 500GB WD AAKB drive ran to an add-in card NOT GOOD! Im beginning to believe I have a defective card! It was only like 20$ though, so I wont complain. The card is ran via PCI E X1, maybe thats still not fully supported? Thanks for the link Its getting pretty good reviews! Think i'll take the plunge!
@OM& Why do you need so many dvd burners? Are you doing commercial work with the burners? I have 3 and only burn with the 7200S. I have 2 other spare lite-ons on the shelf tho. LOL
They all have their own quirks. LOL When I said in the past, I love experimentation, I wasnt lying. I love an arsenal! I can help people make informed buying decisions. Besides, at 20$ heh heh... Ok ok, im a Dvd-Rom pack rat! LOL

nice looken scan loco. where did the new dvdinfopro come from????? yup im askin..lol no scans for me seeing in down-n-out right now the BRM is under the weather.
i'm bidding on the album on e-bay yeah not a very good scan the TYGO2s are from meritline i've never had good luck with meritline but SMS seldom have any problems
ZOSO what was ya doing multi tasking to the max???lol that isn't to pretty. let on its a TY. TBH when i see scans like that normally it is cause by the RIP or the original disc.dirty disc. i just got the wife the new Mary poppins and Peter Pan disc the anniversary editions and neither of them scanned good until i actually washed the disc off. the newness of the disc must have had some residue on it. once i cleaned it,it was fine. EDIT i got mine from meritline and love the results ive had with them.. i think in the near future i will get the from SMS just to compare
i wasn't multi tasking guys. that scan was the original backup i read that disc to the HDD with imgburn and made two copies with nero and scanned the copy and its fine.
Heres something rather strange. This is not a -ROM disc! It's a TYG03 watershield. For whatever reason, it thought it was a -ROM after burn! EDIT - This is a replacement for a VERY ugly looking backup. The LH-20A1H read it with little trouble. I couldnt believe it. One of the ugliest discs ive seen! This is quite possibly the best DVD burner ive ever had!
You know...this burner(iHAP422) doesnt surprise me when it produces this flaw! But given the LH-20A1H did it also, im at a loss. This is NOT a -ROM disc, it is infact a TYG03 Watershield! When I first got the iHAP it was closing discs in this manner! obviously with +R's no big deal, but with -R's it can cause playback issues! The current issue seems to load ok though. When I first got the burner, they would load VERY slow. I chalked it up to a bad flash out of the factory. Now im not sure what to think since 2 of my burners are doing it. Gonna have to look through imgburns settings. But I thought it was frowned upon to close a -R as a -ROM so the ability isnt even given! Looks like my Sammy's can load it in 15 Seconds! So the flaw I was dealing with before is not present! EDIT - Looks like the Dvd player doesnt care though! It acknowledges the disc as a -R. SWEEEEEEET! Still unusual though
You Guys are not going to believe this, but I've now had 5 consecutive bad Optical drives! One Pioneer DVR-116-DBK died yesterday in the middle of a burn, and the other one died today, also while burning. I couldn't even eject the disk until I re-booted the computer. When you play a DVD, the picture jumps all over the screen, and if you try to burn a DVD, it fails about 1/3 of the way through the burn. Amazing, really when you think that I got two bad Lite-Ons first, which were replaced by the poineers, and one of them failed almost imediately. I'm going to call Newegg on Monday and see what can be worked out, as it's past 30 days, but I think they will see it my way and credit the sale. If they do I'm going to order a pair of Sony/Optiarc AD-7220s drives to replace them! Stay Tuned, Russ
Wow russ! Sorry to hear that The manufacturers have to realize that the burners are not entirely used for Piracy! I would imagine the masses chiefly uses them for that. Myself, I believe money is due where credit is due! But my point is, A LOT of people buy burners for legitimately backing up CRUCIAL data. And for this high of failure rate is total BS!!! Ive had some lemons myself in the last few months! And others in my tower I'm sure wont be counted among my survivors! I would rather pay 100$ for a burner, that has a STRONG chance of success and will probably burn 1000+ discs(E.G. early plextor models 716, 760), then spend 20 on a possible lemon! To all manufacturers, Your screwing with family portraits, weddings, early childhood photographs that CANNOT be replaced!!! Take more pride in your factories and I WONT hesitate to pull out my wallet. THATS A FACT!!! You know what it is. There is such a high demand for burners, that they ramp up their production lines to BEYOND recommended limits. Then they get flaws in there devices. I just hope to god, CPU's and other CRITICAL devices dont suffer from it!!!
Russ you do know that the AD-7220 drives are LITEON?? I'd check some power connections or something else as there is NO way you could have 5 failures in a row!!! That's INSANE is all I can say. Good luck to you and I hope the problem is solved. ....gm
Oman7, It's funny. I've replaced one optical drive under warranty in the last 4 years, and then this! I thought it was very strange that I got two bad Lite-Ons to begin with. One did work, but it vibrated and buzzed so bad that I thought it would shatter the disk! When I got the two pioneers, and one went south almost immediately, I figured OK, I got a bad one. But now that the first one, and the new replacement have both gone bad, I have to start wondering what the heck is going on here! I should have just gotten two Sony/Optiarc 7220 drives to begin with and avoided all these problems. My oldest drive, a Sony/NEC/Optiarc AD-7170, is in my computer right now and burns and plays just fine! I guess I should have been suspicious when Newegg didn't want the bad Pioneer back! I'll just have to wait and see how Newegg handles this. I think that their 30 day refund policy will be seen as weak under the circumstances, at least I hope so! I firmly believe that an exception should be made in this case as I must qualify for some sort of record with 5 bad ones in a row! LOL!! Russ
Given mass production, 5 in a row doesnt surprise me as much as it should! It is a jaw dropper though LOL. No matter what the issue(Mobo, Burners), hardware isnt made as tough as it should be PERIOD!!! There's no pride anymore! Myself, the -ROM issue im dealing with, I think im gonna install windows 7 on one of my other drives. Because its now EVERY burner in my tower closing the -R discs as -ROM. Yes they seem to play but this is VERY unusual. Ive been itching to reach inside the HAF again anyway LOL. I love how spacious it is. Unfortunately I have to yank the iHAP422 to do it. Yes, I still have an IDE HDD in my tower! Mainly a storage drive. But im gonna make it my Windows 7 drive for more experiments as well as trouble shooter.
Oman7, My Win 7 disk is on the shelf, along with Vista. It will remain there unless M$ allows removal of the OS without having to wipe the drive partition it is on. It will also have to work with all my present software and files, or it will continue to sit on the shelf! Russ
You know what? Your right! Im gonna try and find a good 64bit linux! With good eye candy as well. I said that a while back, I just havnt gotten around to it LOL. Off to search the web LOL. Sorry guys, i'll post a scan as soon. Either from linux or XP!
GM, normally I would agree that there is no way, except except these drives have shown me that there is! LOL!! The jumpers are set correctly, I've tried 10 different brand new IDE Cables. 11 if you want to count the round single I tried in both drives. It's almost impossible to put the IDE plugs in the drive on wrong, and no way at all with the power plug! Both times now I've put the 7170 in when I pulled the drives, and it works just fine with no problems on the same IDE connector and the same molex plug. The problem is the drives! They don't work right in Oxi, either! I re-burned the failed burns with the 7170 and they completed without any fuss, and that drive has got to be at least 3 years old or older! It burns and scans very well! Best Regards, Russ
