here ya go moony. pictures are worth a thousand words.

this is a shot of my 7200A it has two settings to scan at the 8ecc strategy and the 1ecc strategy. which it is default at the 8ecc. which lets more errors go by than at the 1ecc that the liteys scan at. and the 1ecc is the only option the liteys have.it wont let you change it to 8ecc setting
    here is the 7200A.
and here is the liteon 20A4P
    [IMG]

i set the 7200A to the 1ecc setting and scanning it then ill do the same at 8ecc and show the difference.
i didnt scan it to the end but you can see that it is scanning at the same rate as the liteon here.

scanning now at 8ecc will post shortly
    here is the 8ecc scans

    big difference

    @rob

Thanks for the detailed explanation. I didn't know that. But I see my analysis is not completely flawed you get to select the easy test and not the hard one if you like! :)

you can with the Optarics not the liteons. TBH i dont think alot of people know you can choose with the Optarics.
im going to see if i can change the AD7220S seeing it has the liteon chip in it. it is the onlyone that i havent checked what it can be set at.

    EDIT:
yup its set just like the liteon 20A4P

    Rob,
Let me know how you make out with that, as I have two AD7220s drives!

Im betting its simply an optiarc shell. And behaves EXACTLY like a lite-on.

And the LH redeems itself again :D 8X burn, opposed to the last burn which was 12X. Not too bad at all. In fact, its the best TYG03 the LH has put out! :)

I shouldn't do this but I'm gonna anyway. LOL.

@RUSS.... YOU AVOID DOING ANYTHING UNTIL ROBERT KNOWS IT WORKS OR NOT IF HE CHOOSES TO DO ANYTHING. :p

@Robert... as you prolly already know the AD-7220S is the iHAS322 LITEON drive.. there are some cross-flash f/w available if you choose to do so. ;) It'll make the drive a "true" LITEON drive and give you the availability of a JITTER test with the "altered" CD/DVD Speed progie. :)

try this page for ideas. ;)

Theres also a particular CdSpeed release that will allow the iHAP's and iHAS's to scan jitter. I think thats the one I run now :)

If the 7220 is indeed a iHAS/iHAP then it should work for it. I would think anyway.

Oman7 that's what I was eluding to in the last post...

linky here for Nero CD/DVD Speed 4.7.7.16

Works on iHAS and iHAP drives but NOT for 20A3 drives. ;)

It might and it might not work with the "Sony" drive. :) If you cross flash it to a LITEON drive then you have about 99.9% chance of it working.... assuming of course you don't BRICK you drive. ;)

Oh. I see that there now LOL!

But see...you said that it really is just an iHAS322. If thats true, then why would cross flashing be needed? If the chip is already there...

f/w is all I can say. :) You can try it but I'm betting a small amount it won't work unless it's a LITEON drive. ;)

I haven't purchased a new ODD in quite some time... I'm NOT in the market and besides I need to spend money on other things like frikkin car chargers for me brides Zune I got her last year... ROFL. :p

F/W, of course LOL! Yah, I guess I would doubt that iHAS/iHAP F/w's would work. Glad I don't have to try that one LOL! I'd be afraid of "Bricking" the drive, as it were :)

I've never "flashed" that drive but I'm sure it's NOT difficult... If I can do it anyone can but maybe Russ. hehehee. :) j/k buddy.... You just have the worst luck when it comes to ODD's. :)

Oman7 if you want some help, just lemme know or send a PM... I'd start another thread if you really need the help as I'm sure there will be others that are interested. :)
