My long comment about making myself look superior to others is what I was referring to. I'm by no means superior to anyone. Though it's not quite what I meant to convey. It just came out that way. Though I CAN'T understand how some people do not understand a basic technology that employs an eye...
I stand by my intel comment They've let me down on numerous occasions. Some people like seagate, some people don't. Some people like Philips, others like sony. My luck seems to sway toward the AMD side of things.
I recalled that the bug occurred while/after optimizing/de-fragmenting a HDD. Not sure what that means, but that is what was running before I left for work. The windows error log referred to "Kernel-Power". Not sure what that means either. Obviously I guess that some kind of system power failure occurred. But there was no Power outage. The rest of the house was unaffected. So it is localized to the PC. Perhaps the southbridge is getting worse. Don't know.

 

Mmm hmm. Thats it. So it's isolated to windows vista and 7. I hope there is a fix in the works. That scared the hell out of me LOL!

 

well that is some relief that its not your mobo. could even have something to do with your OC not being stable might need a tweak or two.
a fine tunning so to say..lol

 

more likely the useless os is unstable.. most likely trying to allocate ram to 2 different processes at the same time.. used to BSOD until the geniuses broke that in fista.

 

Since it has only happened once, I'll get over it. I have never ran vista, but windows 7 has earned a 9.5/10 from me. But then, I DO have the hardware to run it. My Overclock should be fine. It's been stable for months without hitch.

Rather in awe here. This was the last burn my Velociraptor ever saw. Or at least its cache saw. About half way through the burn, a major lockup occurred. I first noticed it, when I tried to shut down photoshop. It froze. Tried to enter task manager to no avail. When I realized it was doomed, I allowed the burn to complete before shutting off computer. Apparently the burn finished successfully. I did an imgburn iso - disc verification. It passed with flying colors. And the Velociraptor is dead. RMA is under way with Western digital I'll probably be selling the replacement...

AD7240 or AD7241 which to get. will be ordering mobo and psu tomorrow will have $30 to play with to get a new burner. will eventually get 3 more new ones..

Not quite what I was hoping, but a little better than 004 discs. And on my oldest optiarc no less! We'll see how she does when ran to my new board Probably won't be til this weekend though. Should be an interesting weekend

 

ok who has the link to bitsettings for the AD7240S i forgot it dont bitset, went and burnt a disc and checked it out and still said DVD+ROM

yes, the large spikes are ugly. But they usually don't bother me, as long as they're ONLY single spikes LOL! The highest one has an imperfection on the dye. I've seen the imperfections before. I have no doubt it will play. Though if it were to get scratched in that area...
