    Nice scan greeny.
well after talking to GM i got the new drive in. and i cant find anything on it other than it might be a MSI drive???

here is what i just got.
DH-22A9P if and i think it is, a lite-on it is the most quietest one i have ever had. the FW is 6P58. here is the first burn and scan on it. i used nero create disc to burn this one. and it will only let me burn it at 8x, so no over burn as of yet.

i used the 8x+r verbs from microcenter. still getting that spike around the 0.5 mark. but after that the scan is pretty dang good.

gonna slap a 8x-r ty in it and see what i get.

not to bad for only the 2nd burn. it dont do jitter test. so maybe not a full blown litey???

I think it's a Liteon Robert... I'm reading right now to see about the possibility of a CROSS-FLASH. ;)

Im a true cd Freak! :p LOL!

Here is a scan by the iHES 108 lite-on drive. It is a true lite-on. I get the OHT/FHT options etc. However, much like the iHAS/iHAP drives, a special cd speed may be needed to do the jitter scan.

Here's a scan of the original -R, burned at 8x on the AD-7240s and scanned at 4x.

Here's a burn of the same files with the new +R verbs with the new AZO Dyes, burned at 8x on the same AD-7240s. Much better than the original -R.

There's far more PIFs and much higher PIEs on the -R than there is on one of the new ones. They say, "Made in the Arab Emirates" on the shrink wrap. I just got them this morning. Look better to me! If the AZO Dyes are from 2007, they certainly took their time in bringing them out!

That +R burn looks very similar to what I was getting, when I FIRST started buying them from Officemax. Obviously the quality is gonna vary quite a bit. Can't wait til I'm done with mine. Perhaps I'll shelf them for B grade movies, and be done with them ;)

    oman7,
I've always preferred +R DVDs over the -Rs. I'm going to do the same burn with one of the -R 8x TYs and see how that looks. I'll post it when it's finished!

+R's are generally better most the time. Though for the longest time, a -R TYG02 held the record for my burning record(60 Pifs). Ahh...and then I bought some Yuden T02's (+R TY). Best discs i've seen :D

here's the same Batman begins, burned on an 8x -R Yuden, and scanned at 4x

They suck! They are genuine Yudens too, not counterfeits! I was extremely disappointed with this media. They were not valueLines, either. I won't be buying -R anything in the future!

BTW! Here's the label that was with new pack of +R 16x Verbs. note the AZO on the label!

It's pretty rare that you get -R yudens like that russ. I've NEVER had a coaster. You likely had a foreign material on the disc, by the looks of that peak. Not necessarily, but very likely.
My verbs ALSO have the AZO logo on the package. Like any manufacturer, they CAN vary greatly. The verbs have proven that to me as of late ;)
