    Oman7,
Not according to what I've been posting. The TYs aren't bad scans, and they would have no problem playing, but all the Verb scans with these new drives have much lower PIEs and PIFs, by a bunch! Maybe my computer just doesn't like the TYs! LOL!! I'll cut you a deal on the TYs if you are interested. These are Model DVD-R47ZZ100SB8, -R 8x. I have 99 of them!

Are your TY's a Silver lacquer? If so, not interested. Even if they're printable not interested. Lets just say I'm particular about what I use LOL! I generally stick with Watershield TY's and, Verbatim branded +R's.

I was simply saying in MY experience, verbatim has flopped MORE than TY. That's why I trust TY slightly more than verbatim :)

    Oman7,
Yes they are silver lacquer. Here's what I bought from Newegg.
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817294005

I received the 100 pack cake box instead of 2 50s. What makes me mad is I spent the extra money and didn't buy the valuLine ones.

    Best Regards,
    Russ

well to make a long story short. we drove towards indy. stopped in batesville for potty break and something to eat. i forgot my wallet at home... yes stupid is as stupid does..lol so we didnt make it today. we are leaving first thing in the morning though.
got my ihas 124 today. same drive as the 2 Russ got. IHAS124 Y (not A) so its a NEC also. gonna put it in and give her a go. i called my buddy at work and he said he would take it. so ill pawn it off on him and get a ihas 324..maybe 2 as i need one more drive in each tower. 4 in the 922 and 3 in the 690.

    Rob,
No I can't! I don't remember if the AD-7240s could either. I think it did! I know the AD-7220 did.

all you'l need is binflash and that FW. simple thing as breathing..lol just did mine now it is letting me change book type in nero.. this drive is quiet for sure.
plus you can change it from the nec scaning type 8ecc to the liteon scanning 1ecc. which is what i did. ill post screen shots of these.

    sorry,
    heres the link for binflash
    http://binflash.cdfreaks.com/

make sure you get the WIN32 GUI version
then just load up the bin for it and go..

Here's one of those TDK's I talked about a while back. Given the age of the disc, I would imagine the DRU840 burned it at 8X. Or possibly a DRU830.
One of the ugliest playable discs i've seen LOL!

I guess the new 1has-124s like the -R 16x Verbs I bought by mistake. Decent enough scan.

Pretty high on the PIEs, and decent enough in the PIFs. They don't scan as good as the 16x +R Verbs, but I've only have about 15 of the -Rs left! I've got to put the Floppy back in so I can flash the drives. Then I'll be able to set Booktyping.

Russ you don't need a floppy to flash it. just download the FW zip file and open it. then download the binflash win32 gui and do the dump of the old fw then install he new fw then reboot. thats it.
i haven't tried any of the -r TYs yet.

    Rob,
If I never learned anything about computers, I learned to never flash anything through Windows. Even the motherboard manufacturer's don't recommend it, and caution you against doing it that way! I've never done it, and I never will! I would much rather do it with a floppy. It only takes a minute or two to install it, and I know how to do it that way. The TYs will be shipped later today!

    Best Regards,
    Russ
