Rob, Looking for a good DVD-Rom? Here's an Asus DVD-ROM drive that I find to be very good. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827135202 The IDE version is just as good. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827135201 Best Regards, Russ
Can't see the reasoning for a $17 +$7 shipping for $24 when you can get a decent burner for little more. JM2C
Indeed. My LH-20A1H is a burner, and it was the best reader I've ever had. Well...the second best anyway. My DRU 820 was nothing short of a freak LOL!!!
im done with rebadged drives. wont buy another one ever..... if i want a liteon ill buy a liteon if i want a optaric/nec ill buy one. its sad these manufactures are doing this to the consumers. OM7 you do know now that the 7261S will not book type. there isnt a FW update for it as of yet. ive talked to liggy over at CDF's and there should be one out soon. have to do the same thing they did for the 724X series. as of right now i wouldnt put anything other than -r's in it. i just used one of my 8x-r tys. not to impressed.
My 7240 drives seem to like burning at 12X +. I imagine the 7260 drives are similar in this respect. They're high speed drives. My 2 Samsung drives are the same way. They burn better at High speeds. I guess we'll see on either thursday or friday I don't worry about booktyping too much. The Dvd players in my house don't care whether or not And I generally use +R's for MY backups. E.g. they generally only see computer drives. I use -R's for give aways and such...
disc to disc/on the fly im using the 7260S to read right now until a fw update comes out for it. this is one of the UAE disc. i did go back to microcenter to see if they had any -r UAE type disc.. a big no go.made in india, MIT and the MIT's might be the good ones, older ones.the date on them was 2008????? the +r's i have now are made in 2009
Got a birthday party to attend today (Nephew), but expect some burns/scans I got a new toy to play with
Here's the first disc the drive has seen. Not too bad. The Asus drive is not that good a scanning drive (The LH-20A1H would have yielded lower errors/failures), but this is nothing to sneer at I usually break a drive in, before burning. E.g. rip a few discs. 7261S UAE Verb 004 @ 12X
and here is the first scan off my 7260S with the new Bitsetting FW from liggy and Dee pretty good scan i think. and on the UAE verbs. i scanned it with my IHAS324. the scan from the 7260S looked scarier than greensman fighting over all those 8x+r sony(TY) disc. i scanned it twice. once at 8x and 6x not much difference at all.8x is the way to go with the IHAS324 actually got a better scan at 8x.
I'm sure liking my 7261S. No coasters Jitter's a bit high on this one, but acceptable. UAE disc, as I'm sure you guessed
Here's a scan I did today. Movie played flawlessly and was a 6 as to decent movie. Great media. I'm still liking my opti 7240S Size of pix sucks-been a long time since I did one.LMAO
What a cute little scan window LOL! Not a bad score too Running a few experiments, so i'll be posting some scans Have a new Hard drive (WD20EARS) that may be causing me trouble. That's what I'm trouble shooting. Going beyond 8X seems to be a problem with YUDEN T02 discs. Which usually allow 12X +. But it's only my 7261S and 7241S... 12X UAE 004 Verb
Here's another. 12X UAE 7241S Not too worried about the high spike. Single spikes are ok. And its well within tolerance. Irritating though LOL! There were no defects or debris on the disc. Just so you know
