    @cmunguia

    well i cant really say welcome to AD seeing you have been here since 2005..lol NEWBIE????

    so welcome to the scan thread..lol

    as you can see those CMC Mags arent to reliable over the years
    but the MCC004 looks pretty good... you said you burnt it at 4x. id say if you doubled that and burnd it at 8x's you will see even better results i love those 16x verbs and i dont burn them any slower than 8x.

    ill have a scan or 2 later to post.gotta get the wife a B-Day present. tomorrow is her b-day

    Bring 'em on buddy. ;)

    Tell the little lady....Happy B-day!!! Watcha gonna get her?? Money always works well. hehehe. Day at the Spa is nice. Gift card to her favorite store works too. OH and the best for last. hahaha. A gift card to NewEgg.com and tell her that you will spend her money wisely. Mwuaahahahahahah!!! LOL.

    Nice scans btw........to stay on topic!!

    cmunguia,
    Welcome to the scan thread and like cincyrob said....CMC MAG may not be the media of choice. I will say that there are a couple of CMC MAG MID's that perform OK BUT as a general rule the media is LOW GRADE and not time worthy. MOST I can say without being truly ugly about it. LOL.

    SOME scans for perusal........... :)

    MCC 003 L@@K at the PIE's....... ;)

    TYG03 burned on the Pioneer

    TYG02 burned on the LH-20A1S

    I think the 8X scan is good enough. Most of the scans that I do are 8X and another forum I visit recommends that speed so everyone is on the same page. There's arguments for both ways but normally the higher speed scans "show" more errors than the lower speed. I haven't read enough to be truly educational about the whole thing but that's what I remember. :)

    For experimentation you might try scanning the same disc at 1X, 4X, 8X, 12X, and 16X just for giggles. It will take some time but it'll give you an idea of what performs/works the best. :)

    sorry for the long post/answer......... :D

    Sweet scans all, especially those low PIEs greensman!

    Here's a couple I've done lately:

    a 2.4x Verb DL I attempted to burn @ 6x. Looks like my Litey will only take these to 4x, even with overspeed! Meritline states this about these: Verbatim (95123) 2.4X (UP TO 6X) DL DVD+R (Double Layer DVD+R) White Inkjet Printable Blank Media 8.5GB on Spindle. Does anyone know of any burners which can?

    http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s102/hobbit112/Dogville20a1h6xVerbburn.png

    and here's something I didn't realize I had, some CMC Mags!! I saw this partial cake box of hub printables on the bottom and checked them out. They were Memorex which coded out as CMC Mags. I decided to burn one for chuckles & grins, here's the scan:

    (edited to correct the Verb identification)

    @Playr,

    My Liteys didn't like the TY 02s either. Had much better luck with the 03s.

    @All

    Meritline has a special on Verbs through tomorrow (the 12th). The main thing that caught my eye was they have Verb 2.4x DLs on sale for $38.99 a 20 pk shipped, thats $1.95 ea. Thats about a 30% discount. They must be getting ready for the new, higher speed DLs.
    Edited to correct what's being advertised.

    NIce scans guys..
    @greensman

    6004 pie's thats way to sweet... see what i have been saying about those verbs??lol

    heres a sample of doing a scan at 4x and then 2x

    4x is what i normally do mine at.. the slower the scan speed is the closer it is to what your player is actually gonna read and play the disc, but the slower you do the test the longer it will take..lol

    4x
    2x

    not really impressed with these scans

    Now that's a funky jitter scan! :D Question is, how does it play?? Should make it past the layer break but I bet you get some pixelation at least and maybe some freezes too!

    Holy Cow! I just noticed you burned that puppy @ 8X! Put that baby in handy place, i'd love to see some scans as it ages!

    Yeah, but TY 02s are suppose to be the king of all media (sorry Howard).

    I think they are/were "king of all media" because the majority of burners could successfully burn them, high quality control standard plus the stability of the dyes being used.

    It's mainly what your burner will burn most successfully and consistantly. My newer Lite-on LH-20A1Hs burn the 03s better than the 02s (actually they burn the 16x rated media better than the 8x), so I use the 03s with them.

    NIce one dutchmo. :) I've only seen a couple of scans on a BENQ that had PIF's below 100. btw that scan shows why the "older" drives did so well with YUDEN T02 media. :D

    ...gm

    edit: to add stat/scan of MCC 03RG20 (DVD-R 16X Verb....cincyrob's fav....lol) recorded on the Pioneer DVR-112L at 8X.

    stat MCC 03RG20

    scan MCC 03RG20
