Please note to newbies that this is NOT a typical TY scan. I believe my sony drive to be the culprit! My next and final attempt before I chuck the drive is burning with imgburn SOLELY. I dont like blaming the simultaneous burn, but I dont know what else it could be. I dont believe in coincidences, so either the drive is going or nero simultaneous burn is effecting it. It never did this before! As you can see, the effected area is even larger this time!
Was that a racist comment?? lol. They were Riteks if memory serves, which makes them Taiwanese. I'm out now and don't plan on getting any more. lol. Of course I paid very little for them and there were about 5-6 bad discs out of 2 50 packs. OD labeled discs btw. Oh and they were either $7.99 or $9.99 a 50 pack. ....gm
well... Not quite where I want it to be but not too bad. Really raises the question on nero. Gonna have to try either nero 9 or, an older clean install. Ive been considering a fresh windows install anyway. Several programs I dont wanna run anymore, as well as ones I do wanna run, As well as switching to X64bit operating. then I can run all my drives.
Ok, Now your talking. I had to be sure. Im really leaning toward my drive being the culprit. Oddly it only does it during MULTI BURN. This is from a different package. This is a silver printable TYG02. These normally get better scans then the regular ty's. I still notice at the lead in, that a similar ROUGH burn is there. Its been doing that from the get go, it just didnt occur to me til now. This drive may have to step down like I made the last drive. I made it solely my reader/ripper. Yes, Im screwing with STYLEXP! Its rather sad too. This sony has only seen 100 maybe more. THATS NOT MUCH SONY. My lite-on has seen atleast that. Maybe I'll try that Optiarc. I suppose I could buy another one at walmart and KICK ITS woo hoo, and then exchange it if it slips.
without me wanting to derail the thread (again!), you don't need a 64-bit system just to run loads of drives, i'd already demonstrated that in one of my previous replies..
i was just getting ready to say the same thing Creaky. Omegaman. you dont need to go with a 64bit OS to burn multi-burns. i have XP home 32bit and burn them fine. one thing i will tell you about the multiple burns with Nero. your not gonna get the awesome burns with all the drives you use that you would if you did them 1 at a time. your asking 1 program(Nero) to do alot at once. it cant do it..... personally i dont think there is anything wrong with your drive. that last burn looks great. 203 total PIF's thats great i would take that every time out if i could get it.you say that drive has alot of burns on it? it could be going south on you but i think from the scans you have posted they dont look bad at all if your doing the multiple burns like we have been talking about. if you look at my 4 burns i just did. the first one looks good then the second one looks OK then the last to get worse. i posted the scans in the order the drives are setup in my rig, which is the way Nero burns them number 1 position down to number 4. the last drive being the so called worse burn. no this is just my opinion. when i have burnt torrent stuff i dont get as good scans than when i burn ripped stuff or on the fly stuff. i dont know if anything your burning is torrent stuff, so that could be the difference in some of your burns as well. i think i have a couple torrents left on the hdd now. i will burn one of them then ill rip a disc to the hdd then burn it, then do one on the fly and post all 3 scans. edit: i dont have anything to rip that i dont have to run through dvdreb.so i have a torrent file and theon one on the fly. torrent file here on the fly here
@omegaman7 get your drives from newegg.com usually all under $30 some with free shipping. I've bought 3 from them this year. including Otiarc 7200S (NEC) and an optiarc 7191S (LiteOn)
heres a few from newegg that are great drives. and all under $30 and free shipping http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...82E16827129032,N82E16827118012&page=2&bop=And
1. 64 bit operating has me curious. (I like tackling new things) 2. Its obvious my drives going south. Though its curious that the scans are worse when ran through nero. COULD be coincidence. It almost looks like the laser engages HOT. IS THAT POSSIBLE? EVERY DISC from the get go has had the lead in problem. IM PICKY. 3. Im buying one right now. 4. I thought the only way to run more than 2TB SIMULTANEOUSLY was to be running 64bit operating. Ive experienced a hangup when more was installed.
Im afraid I cant buy any of those right now. My board only has 2 sata ports and there taken by my precious HDD's. LOL. I suppose I could get an add on card, but I cant do it right now. OH god this has me irritated. I bought this drive on mwave over a month ago. Theres no way they would take it back now. And besides, its backed up quite a bit, so its paid for itself. I'm just gonna have to watch it like a hawk for now. Quite a few mixed reviews on the pioneer. Ive tried pioneer products in the past, NOT IMPRESSED.
Hah hah, good to know. You guys understand what im dealing with dont you? Im seeing visible flaws in the disk. I think if you REALLY new what im dealing with you would be just as critical. People want their discs to last a long time. This drive apparently isnt up to the challenge. Its a quick ripper though. It'll still serve a purpose.
LOL Omegaman. yes we understand what your saying about the disc. we all have had the same type of flaws in disc from time to time.PLus in your situation your drive might be going south on you as well.some drive can use them disc with the flaws and some dont do as well and some wont use them no matter what. if iwas you i would buy a 10 pack of some cheapy brand disclook them over and burn them and see what ya get. hell where ya at i can send you some office depot 16x +/- r's ritek's let ya play with them. hey me as well as a few others here are allways up for a reason to get a new drive..lol hell some dont need a reason they just need the time to hit the buy button.. you know how you are ~
ive never heard that about the 2TB of hdd space not being seen on a 32bit system, i do know it wont see mre than 3.5gb of mem(give or take a 100-200mhz) i know a few guys here Creaky & Sammorris have more than 2TB of hdd space and they dont have 64bit...now ya got me curious about that..lol
I don't know what wiki you're referring to but i'm sat next to 6 internal SATA's along with 7 in USB2.0 enclosures, all spinning (very quietly, one of the reasons i like WD5000AAKB/AAKS drives).
I have some riteks. Give me some time. Im running the rebuilder right now with CCE HBOY2 if your curious. it should be finished in under an hour.
