Well now, the lite-on does. I should certainly think so. Cincyrob has generally the same drive. Hers is Simply sata! A better scan in the lite-on too. I suppose it would be though.
Curious. For testing purposes, How would one theoretically CAUSE pif's? And im talking major WORST you could ever see. WITHOUT scratching the disc. And please dont tell me multitask. Because bufferunderrun protection would prevent that. Atleast I should certainly hope so.
You could try a black Sharpie or other permanent ink marker and see what that does. Try it on an old disk and see what it does. I can't think of anything else, short of scratching the disk. best Regards, Russ
I can't think of anything multitasking-wise, as you've seen how much multitasking i do on my Quad, and am still able to burn. Maybe you could do some stupidly large copy/paste data transfers from other optical drives during burning, however i don't think you have enough drives. Maybe you could do loads of simultaneous copy/pastes of some of those movies ISO's..
heres a real kicker for you. This disk had a large flake of whatever it was on it during burn. Now... I always blow my discs off, but apparently this one picked something up while it was on route to the burner, LOL. And yet... After blowing the flake away, and seeing a dark spot on the dye, where the laser OBVIOUSLY couldnt hit, I get a 100% score on the read. Im at a loss here,
With a dye run i'd definitely be worried, but even then, it all comes down to a CRC scan, data's there, it's all a question of whether it's all intact or not..
You blokes have got me worried. Take a peek at these... They sure as heck don't look like the ones on this page..lol.
o-man I wouldn't trust a scan on anything other than Lite-On or BENQ, well maybe a Samsung if it's got the proper patch. Were you able to get your Litey to read the Jitter? Make sure you have the disc inserted and the door closed. lol. Then open Nero discspeed and go to the "Disc Quality" tab, then click "Advanced" settings and then select "Jitter DVD" and "hit" all the "Ok's" until you're back to scanning. hth...... ....gm
Yah, I got the jitter working on the litey. Howcome onya gets a 97 for all those pif's and spikes? NOT FAIR, LOL
oh boy oh boy. I just introduced a buddy to discspeed, and he showed me some of his scans. WOW! If this disc plays in a dvd player, Im being far too critical! Im afraid I cant post it here on the forum, The dimensions are too much for the post. But if your interested, its the worst scan ive EVER seen! http://img87.imageshack.us/img87/1483/dennisscandv6.jpg The indicated recorder is false as well. Rather odd.
different drive doing the scanning.. as GM said nothing but a litey or benq t odo scans.... even my 7200s doesnt scan as well as the litey's
Oh Boy!!! Look at all the pretty colors!!! It's so festive-looking!!!!! LOL Not the worse I've seen (or done). I'm not a big fan of Daxon, never was able to get a decent burn with them. Here's one of my gems: This one went straight to the dumper. Took me a while but I found one "prettier" than yours:
Depends on what you mean by 'play'. The discs spin, images flash on the screen and sound comes out of the speakers, but not what should! I stopped using that drive for burning shortly afterwards, I think it flaked out. Am currently thinking about putting it back in for scanning purposes only as I think my Benq DW1655 is starting to flake on it's scans now.
Oi!!! It's a hobbit. O-man I would guess that drive is "flaking" out as well. NOT necessarily the case but it's looking that way from my experience. With the cost of ODD's nowadays it's nothing to spend $20 and get the drive delivered. I have purchased a couple of drives on the cheap the last 6 months and with delivery were less than $20 each. Just gotta watch those super sales. ....gm sorry went on a bit of a ramble there
Be Afraid, be very afraid. Here is a burn at full tilt, that is right, 20X on the Litey. This thing actually plays, believe it or not. Burned using IMGBurn.
blivet that thing might play right now but what about in a month or so. Hope all is well buddy. ...gm
For some reason my old SONY DRU710A (a rebadged Liteon 1633S) has a little bit of Jitter (LOL...5% graphic, but everything on numbers of Average and Maximum), why not the whole Jitter graph? I have no idea, LOL. Just a rescanned of same backup of "KUNGFU PANDA" from earlier post.
Oh boy oh boy. Its 7200A burning time, LOL. Nah, not to bad a burn though. As you can see, even with a new burner and no matter what the media, the consistant spike (indicated) is once again there. I wonder if any of the cdf's would know what that could be. Yes, the discs playable. But I still wanna know. I like the way this burner sounds. Trays kinda STUPID FAST though. Seems solid enough though. I suppose as long as it burns 20 discs though, I'll be happy. I do have a one year on it though. It even cut 20sec on the burn time! Please also note that the indicated spike isnt some consistant 10pif mark, im talking an average of 104PIF's 9/10 times if not everytime! If it were only a measly 10pif's I wouldnt be knocking it sooo bad.
