Well now. My 840 either appears to like +R's or this is a freak scan. Because I believe this is the best burn my 840's yielded! As you can see, the HIGH pi e spike at the leadin is not on this burn. And no there is no VISIBLE flaw in the Rec Dye.
Yes, My sonyDRU840 (apparently Samsung) likes the +R verbs. Well now, that raises an interesting debate on TY vs. Verbatim. And it also has bitsetting capability. <----VERY pleased
Yep a Samsung. SH-S202H/N btw. (TS-H652H/N) You might go to this thread and see what you can find out. CK has "created" some "other" f/w for it but I didn't find the link for it. I'm sure with some minor searching you can find something. You may just be able to flash the Samsung f/w (CK patched) to the drive and make the change to a "true" Samsung. lol. ...gm
omegaman, I have one of those, of course it's about the thickness of two license plates because I beat it to death with a hammer after Sony screwed me on it by replacing it with a refurb and when it failed wouldn't replace it because it was past 90 days old. I argued for the 1 year warranty since the original was 2 months old, and should be under warranty as they replaced it. They wouldn't budge! So I beat it flat with a 5 Lb. Sledge! Never bought Sony anything since! LOL!! Russ
sorry to hear that. My brothers owned 2 830's and both didnt last very long. Every DRU that ive had has been trouble free-ish. I say ISH because one of my 830's spit out a coaster after 25% burned (Nero burning ROM) saying there was a problem/Failed. Its only seen 2 -r's since. I dont mind feading it +RW's though. Its never failed with those. And I think it was a burning rom related failure anyway. BUT... I dont wanna chance it. My 820 was a FREAK. Never one coaster. and probably 400 rip and burns. It rips VERY slowly now. and my lite-on scans show it to be deteriorating. I must admit, Lite-on has a fan for life if they keep it up. The AD-7200A is pretty awesome too. I'll post a 12x on 8x media SOON
Here is an 8X TYG02 (Premium) Printable burned at 12X with my AD-7200A. Darn near a HOF! Well now... MUCH better than the 840's results. And unfortunately my lite-on wont burn the 8x media at 12! Im sure there is a F/W out there that will let me, but... I REALLY like the burner and dont wanna push it. The lite-ons already proven it self to me. The opti has to prove itself to me, LOL You'll just have to believe me because this version of discspeed wont let me burn an image!!! Burn time 7min FLAT!
Verbatim +R 16X burned at 18X 5:10 min. Not too bad. Freakishly low Pi E's I know, I know. The Pi E's arnt what count. I watch them both. Something about them beckons me, what can I say, LOL. Well... I think the opti's proven itself. Though I dont like the buffer/cache the way it acts. It fluctuates rather violently. Especially at the higher speeds. NO, its not my HDD. TRUST ME.
O-man7 I think that scan is just fine. Good consistancy throughout and the PIF's aren't that bad. I would really like to see a Jitter test. I see that you're using Nero discspeed 5!! You might give the last discspeed 4 a try or the last stable version of 4.7.7.16 I think. The GM likes to see Jitter as it's just as important to me as the LOW PIF's. ...gm
well just got 50 16x-r verbs from sams $9.99 for 50 cant pass that up(well my pops got them for me).not printables just the reg silver disc. this is the first burn out of the 50. oh yea. this is disc 2 disc with anydvd/clonedvd2 combo.movie and menu only.only 17% compresion needed once all the other junk is removed..
well... I thought that my FW upgrade to the 7200A was causing a problem, but it would appear that my lite-on yields similar/worse scans. Dont get me wrong. I would accept these scans any day of the week. So what do you afterdawn cdspeed freaks think of taiwan verbatims? Ive read singapore is the best, but... should I avoid taiwan? here is the lite-on burn Now here is the 7200A with the 1.Z2 F/W Appears I got a badish batch. I realize its nothing to sneer at!
@O-man7... You've done lost ye mind!! lol. What are you expecting from a burn (scan really)?? Your PIE's are very low and the PIF's never go over 2 which a good and your total on both burns is under 300, which is fantastic. Heck your Jitter average on both burns is under 8.0, which again is great!!! I'm envious of both burns actually. You've done a nice job booby!! Trust me here that we all would like to have those burns all of the time. I'll burn a couple of MCC 004's later and show you what my results are and see if you still think you got a bad batch. lol. Buddy you got a couple of good burners and the media you're using is good as well. Keep it up and I'm sure you'll find perfection some day. ....gm
Lol. Thats why I said "Badish" batch. I guess it just bothers me when I see consistent failures. AND believe me I would take these scans everytime. Just pointing out a curious consistency. Thanks again Gman for the F/W info. I now can bitset my +R's with the opti. Perfection is something we ALL strive for... isnt it? Hmmm... its a shame that a burner cant (CAN IT?) scan a blank dvd/cd before burn to see what its up against. That way it could yield optimal burn. I KNOW I KNOW, now ive lost it, right?
only the DL verbs are singapore, and they are the best to be had in DL disc. the taiwan single layer disc are the best verbs to be had as well. as GM said those scans are as close to perfect that anyone will get... less than 5000 PIE's is unheard of....
@O7 You need to get out of the house more. You're pursuing a perfection that CANNOT be obtain-much like the perfect machine-energy in=energy out!! You're always gonna see one of those blue or green spikes. A 100 scan without one of those has never been posted!!!!You're going to burn out your burner much too soon with all this useless activity. Start drinking, no that would only double the spikes, but oh so relaxing.! LOL
Garmoon that couldnt have been said any better...now im thirsty..gotta find something nice and cold to drink... got this little scan here.
it haven't bought any Verbatim DVD+R DL in a long while. I guess there is no sure way to get the MIS DVD+R DL ordering online
yeah i have some MII Verbatim DVD+R DL last time i got them at Micro Center and don't like them at all
