Counting all medias?... about a half dozen, maybe more. Thats the largest one though. Pretty bad when this is the 1st batch of 03's I have purchased, and already im seeing multiple flaws. Ive seen little burn marks off and on through the yrs, but never this big! Pays to glance at your media,
Never seen "dots" like that but I've seen plenty of the "streaks" before. I even posted somewhere about it. O-man7 I wouldn't worry about it as long as there isn't a bunch of them that look like that. I know it's rare but TY does mess up now and then. I personally like the TYG01, TYG02, and YUDEN T02 better than the TYG03 discs. My preference of course. I sill believe that TY makes about the best blank there is. When MCC (Mitsubishi Chemical Corp) was actually making the discs they were DANG good but now they are hit and miss. I've had all hits so I can't really complain. Try a few more and let's see how those drives treat the TYG03's O-man7. ...gm
Ran across them spots on Verbatim disks single and dual layer a couple a years back. http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/277341
long time no see Chris. how ya been? wow another reference to docTY. all in the same day... we might need a guess apperance..lol

Well... This was a tease. I opened up the other 50 pack of these watershield TYG03's to see if they were any better. And at first it was doing pretty good! Then well... as im sure you see, it went south. I guess TY's quality control is going south. I have heard other people say that not long ago. Better grab some 02's while they're available guys. TY... you should be ashamed! Oh, there are no visible defects incase anyones wondering.
O-man7 you got a Sam's club near you?? If so, and you have some extra cash, go buy some Verbatim DVD-R printables. If you haven't used them before I'd be curious to see how the "stack" up against those TYG03's. RedRob has used them before and likes 'em, you might give it a whirl. PM coming your way. Truly NOT bad burns just not as good as you hoped. Jitter is pretty good and PIE's aren't that high while the total PIF's are a bit high but nothing over 2. ...gm
EXCELLENT!!! Now thats what im talking about. This is a dvd-r Datalife(printable) from verbatim. An excellent movie might I add. Believe I newegged um. The reason I stopped buying them was for obviously STUPID reasons. Because this is ONE of the best scans ive had. Only a few better.
first let me say omegaman, ive seen way better scans from you than that last one..lol try burning those watersheild disc in the 7200 drive.. leave the DRU alone. it cant handle them disc. my liteon SHW-160P6S wont burn them either wont burn much of any TY 16x media.tbh it wont give me a good scan/burn on any TY media.. just wont.. but it will burn the hecky out of the 16x verbs.. i was gonna get some of them watersheild disc, but my wallet isnt that big right now. http://www.supermediastore.com/taiy...t-hub-printable-50pk-in-cake-box-spindle.html now this is more along the lines for me..lol 8x-r hub printable
Ok. I got some burnin to do this mornin. I'll post some more 03's. I left a mediocre review on their site. Wasnt a lie either. Im simply not impressed! Perhaps they'll lower the cost, if enough people complain. I wish they would offer them in an 02 line, But then, perhaps all we need for these 03's is an intelligent firmware? Scans/posts comin right up.
Not too bad for burning at 16X. No spikes over 2! I really love this opti! Oh... Rob, here is a better buy on those TY's. Meritline is often better pricing than SMS. You might compare the two before purchase. http://www.meritline.com/taiyo-yuden-8x-dvd-r-white-inkjet-printable.html
Well... I think that I GROSSLY underestimated these discs. Atleast coming from an OPTIARC standpoint. I fear SMS will read this LOL, but Their pricing may be justified. These are obviously good HIGH speed disc burning capable. Atleast with the opti. Sorry about the size. Trying a new site (photobucket) not seeing a thumbnail view. Imageshack is having problems
@O7 I love seeing the updates to this thread lately, actually anticipate them and have anxiety attacks when O7 doesn't post a scan. Maybe it's deja vu, all over again , but the score is always a 95 and the blue and green lines vary from large to small in number. Doesn't matter which brand of disc or burner you use. This is becoming free entertainment. I'd love to count back and see how many scans have been posted and see what the score average is! LMAO
LOL garmoon. ehhh... its a good reference tool for people. And as ive said, more than anything, I enjoy chatting it up with you people. Besides, if TY views sites like this thread, and cdfreaks, maybe we can spark some ambition in the industry
I was curious, perhaps others were... This is a burn done at 4X. I dont usually go so slow, since the standard these days for burning is beyond that. Unless your talking 360 games? marginal effect at slower speeds. And quite possibly a fluke. Woo hoo, imageshacks up
O-man7 you might try 10x, 12x, or even 16x on the 7200 or your other burners for that matter to see how they do. It's normally finding a sweet spot with your burners that really make them shine. I think that 4x on most burners now would result in less than stellar results a majority of the time. I have very little 4x media left and that will over burn to 8x easy. Have fun and keep 'em coming. lol. ...gm
@O7 And your point was? at 4X = 95 lmao Not laughing at you or being derisive. It's just funny. And I like to hang around this thread to, just to aggravate Chass.
My DRU820 yields its best burns at 4X now. Its at the end of its usefull life though. Thats why I was curious. Its pretty apparent to me at this point that dye is simply not perfect on these. And I say again, PLEASE CORRECT ME if im wrong... perhaps the gloss/chemical reacts with the recording dye on these watershields. mmmm.... I almost forgot. Their also supposedly more scratch resistant. Perhaps the material thats used on the dye's shield is more difficult for the optics??? Perhaps a firmware upgrade is in order. Or burners better suited for these new discs? Time will tell. I guess I refuse to believe that TY would knowingly sell &^%$&%^&^%..... Yah Heres that shot of the 820 again. This is why it doesnt burn at 8X anymore. http://img356.imageshack.us/my.php?image=2ndtyg02bg6.jpg
Okay gman In keeping with the thread and the master's wishes> LMAO --Here's one I just did TDK, burned on the Opti-NEC 7200S Except for the big spike at start and jitter all over the place(which I could give a shot) it's a great scan and a great disc. And it has already been copied several times on the fly w/o issues. Eat your heart out Omegaman7-- another 95.
