I have recieved a lot of help from this site before. Now, i need a refrsher. I have a slideshow created on Windows Moviemaker, but when I go to save not the file but save to my computer, it won't then allow me to both view it and hear the MP3 music that I put in the slideshow. Secondly, Nero gave me a trial version but the trial serial number they provied me came expired. Now I am stuck. I do have IMG Burn, but have never used it to burn a DVD. Does anyone know how?

What does that have to do with the topic of this thread? Please find an appropriate place to pose your questions.

TB drives are still to spendy. Dont get me wrong, I LOVE my FALS WD drive.
ive had scores of 70 and worse play. Are you teasing my goal for perfection? Man... I know that my discs arnt gonna end up perfect. I am sure that there are ways the industry could produce a perfect disc, a burner with a GOOD f/w, and calibration and badda bing. It really doesnt seem that impossible to me. Something tells me by the time they do perfect rec dyes, it will be the dawn of a new technology. But then, ive heard talks of upcoming optical discs, so it could be a while. Ever heard of Holographic versatile disc? VERY impressive! :D :D :D :D

    @omegaman7

I'm just messing with ya. All your scores seem to be 95s and so are mine. We are scanning with Litey 20A1H and me the S version. How many posts have you seen in all these pages scanned with this drive, that are higher than 95, not many. Try the same disc @ 2,4 8 16X and see the scores all over the place. As gm said, don't worry about me, I'm crazy! If you enjoy scanning discs by all means continue-if you ever ace one at 100, pm me, if I don't see it. LOL :)

    @gm

Now what you talking about me being crazy! :p

They're coming to take me away ha ha, to the funny farm!

Well if you people don't know by now the "men in white coats" have picked up GARmoonY. ROFL... Something about scans driving him insane... hehehe. :p I'm about to do some "damage".... :p

This is why I'm NOT a fan of Ricoh or Ritek, just me I guess as some do have luck with these discs but NOT the GM... lol.

I'll do another at 8x to see what happens but I'm afraid they can't handle anything over 8x. I've burned 100+ of the CMC MAG AM3 and MBIPG101 R05 discs and don't remember these sort of results at 12x or 8x.

    Happy burning to all. :D

Here's some information on the Holographic Versatile Disc.

The article is a bit old, but they use them now in Medical for 3D imaging!

Me thinks that the GM is burning way too many chick flicks. Scientific research has shown that too much estrogen laden data run thru a burner can corrupt it. Try cleaning your drive with a copy of Pulp Fiction, Wanted or the latest Mummy picture. You'll be back to those great scans once again.

You know I thought the same thing and then I remembered that the only chick flick of late was some British flick and that's it. I can't imagine ONE film corrupting my little burners. ;) I'll run some MANLY films thru it to "clean" it out and see what happens then.. Oh and I'm trying a new f/w too.. hehee. :p

I did a couple of more for my own piece of mind. lol. NOT really. :p

Anyway the first disc I burned after the f/w flash was a disaster as I forgot to set smartburn. So first disc of each MID burned after smartburn set and tested. :)

add: this is a western that came out recently, so no chick flick type stuff going on here. :D

I just bought this model. (iHAP422-08) Be trying it out tomorrow. Similar model to your atapi GM. Why do you suppose your burner being a liteon would call itself an atapi. I had one a few months back that called itself an atapi. It gave up after 15-20 discs(Couldnt recognize blanks). Hope this one lasts longer. Should be getting it in the morning. Wont be able to play for a while though. My bro's computer needs me, lol. Bad PSU, among other things. His luck with computers... I swear, lol.

    omegaman7,
atapi has nothing to do with the brand. It's a type of drive.

DEFINITION - ATAPI (AT Attachment Packet Interface) is an interface between your computer and attached CD-ROM drives and tape backup drives. Most of today's PC computers use the standard Integrated Drive Electronics (IDE) interface to address hard disk drives. ATAPI provides the additional commands needed for controlling a CD-ROM player or tape backup so that your computer can use the IDE interface and controllers to control these relatively newer device types.

ATAPI is part of the Enhanced IDE (EIDE) interface (also known as ATA-2).

This is pretty old (note the relatively newer device types, but still applies today.

    Best Regards,
    Russ

I am aware of that. But... what the computer calls the model number bothers me I guess. My thoughts are its a lesser model of lite-on. correct me if im wrong, PLEASE. :D
Is lite-on afraid to call it their own?

It's just a designation and has nothing to do with the quality of the drive. AFAIK all modern Litey's are now recognized this way.

    omegaman7,
I guess it only applies to EIDE drives. Sometimes you will see drives in the Hardware Manager and they say they are SCSI. I use two IDE drives in my rig, and both say SCSI. No sense wasting the IDE port when there's no performance difference between IDE and Sata. With round cables, airflow isn't a problem. I don't think they are any lesser. I have a BenQ that's been flashed into a Lite-On LH-20A1P, and consistently get very good burns, mostly 95s with the occasional 93 or 98. I use only the 16x Verbs now, and have no complaints with them at all. Eventually I want an Optiarc AD-7200 or an AD-7220 when I build my AMD rig. I'm in no hurry, I'm waiting for the good Phenom IIs.

    Best regards,
    Russ

That sums up my plans. I want the next gen phenom! :D :D You will LOVE the opti russ. It consistently outperforms my litey. Dont get me wrong. The litey is awesome, but the opti does a VERY good job with its burns. Its PIf average is substantially lower.
Lol, hows that intel treating you? I joke you not. Every intel processor ive come across did not amount to my amd processors.

    omegaman7,
I've got a Brand new D-940 in it right now. Seems I've found out what Electro-Migration does to a CPU. The E6750 won't handle the files properly. I got all sorts of corrupt file errors and a fresh install of XP-Pro SP-2 only lasted 1 1/2 days before it was no longer bootable! I just got the RMA from Intel today. When I put the D-940 in it I had no problems with the supposedly corrupt files! I'll ship it to Intel on Friday when I go into the office.

I think the Intel's do better by the numbers, but as you well know, there's more to speed than benchmarks.

I keep hearing good things about the AD-7200s, and my last couple of burners were Optiarcs. Good solid drives. I have posted some very good scans with the Litey though.

    Best Regards,
    Russ

Dracula said the same thing about one little wooden stake in his heart.
Dirty Dancing has been rumoured to wipe out entire networks.
