man it looks like the 7200 series is gone with the wind... thats a shame. look at this one here... im sure AABBCCDD or ZOSO would be interested in this one.. lol,i know i am...need to find out if it is a true plextor or a rebadge of some sort??? http://www.performance-pcs.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=67&products_id=24787
from what ive just read at CDF they are rebadged liteons with the sanyo chipset in them.but if memory is correct isnt the sanyo chipset the original plextor chips? i stand corrected the PX-850SA isnt a sanyo chipset. PLEXTOR PX-760A : PLEXTOR PX-760A (SANYO LC897496K) PLEXTOR PX-760SA: PLEXTOR PX-760SA (SANYO LC897496K) PLEXTOR PX-800A : Sony NEC Optiarc AD-7170A / SONY AW-G170A / SONY DRU-170C (NEC MC-10041) PLEXTOR PX-810SA: Pioneer DVR-212 (NEC MC-10042) PLEXTOR PX-820A : Sony NEC Optiarc AD-7200A / SONY DRU-V200A (NEC MC-10043) PLEXTOR PX-820SA: Sony NEC Optiarc AD-7200S / SONY DRU-V200A (NEC MC-10044) PLEXTOR PX-806SA: LITEON iHAS120 (MEDIATEK MT1869L) PLEXTOR PX-850A : LITEON iHAP322 (MEDIATEK MT1858L) PLEXTOR PX-850SA: LITEON iHAS322 (MEDIATEK MT1859L) a clip from a post at CDF. here is a good link to the talk about this drive along with the other 5 new plextors out now. http://club.cdfreaks.com/f43/new-drives-px-806sa-px-850a-sa-px-q840-px-610u-255426/#post2185788 looks like if your gonna get a rebadge the PX-820SA is the one to get.
i just don't think its worth paying the extra bucks because it says Plextor on the front of the drive anymore when there rebadged Pioneers,Lite-Ons etc!
All be darned. I had NO idea that my Sony DRU820A was actually a Benq with a panasonic chipset. One of my Survivor drives too. This drive has seen FREAKISH amounts of discs. im gonna like this site alot (LINKY)
Heres another one of those lovely datawrite (CMC MAG AE1) discs. 8X Burned at 8X. The 7200 would have yielded better. But it does look like the burner adapted, So thats good. Good jitter too. In a way i like these discs. They remind me just how good TY and verbatim are. I wonder if a better firmware has been produced on this badboy?
O-man7 have you had any issues with the playback on the discs you've burned on the 422?? I've had a few CMC MAG AM3's show some stuttering or momentary freezing recorded with the iHAS120 (8x on Nero and IMGBURN) for some reason. I've just updated the f/w and I may back it up a version or 2 and see what happens. It seems to do fine with TY's and MCC 004's (verbies). hmmmmmmmmm.... is all I can say... The AD-7200S does fine with the CMC MAG AM3's... still just gotta say hmmmmmmmmmmmm.. lol. ....gm
No playability issues yet. Reviews ive read suggest giving up on this burner though. Lite-on should be ashamed. There LH-20A1H model is Friggin awesome. I dont always have time to test my discs, so I dont think im gonna trust it anymore. I hope you hear me Lite-on! Really is a shame about these discs too. Their print quality is SLITELY better than TY's. It has a slite shine to it. Almost a semi-gloss
i dont think ther is anything made that the 7200S cant work wonders with...now your not gonna get TY type burns out of some of the 3rd tier media but they still play good. it is a shame that plextor is rebadgeing everything now. i wouldnt mind getting one of them 850's or a 820 model
RedRob I just looked up that Plexy 820SA and the cheapest I could find it was $70.99. At one time in the sales game you could get 3 of the AD-7200S drives for that price. I just wish I would have picked up more than the 2 that I have. I'll keep looking until I find a couple of more at a good price. ...gm

Upgraded my FW on the LG from 1.01 - 1.02 Im betting the first scan (1.01) was simply a freak disc to roll of their assembly line. I do get the occasional FREAK (near perfect scan). I must admit, these are some of the lowest Pi E's, Pi F's ive seen on these discs. The LG is doing a good job so far. We'll see how they play though, huh. ROB, what program do you use, disc 2 disc? I wanna run some comparisons.
Here is an awesome burn on an aging drive! My SONY DRU840(samsung) has seen INSANE amounts of discs, and yet it still yields awesome verbatim burns! I think I might just have to get another one of these babies. As well as give samsung a shot!
i use clonedvd2. but you can use imgburn which is what ihave use the past 4 or 5 burns. just pick write files/folders to disc, instead of image. then chose the drive the movie is in.. im sure you know how.
Well now, Here it is. Disc To Disc! I must admit im at a loss. Yet another awesome scan. Other than the 3950MB area, its an awesome scan. For some reason the very end of the disc got close to 200Pi'fs as well as Higher Pi'E. Still WAY within the standard though. I used my Sony DRU840(samsung) for the ripper, And the atapi iHAS422 at 8X. The DRU840 is the only burner I trust to keep up with the rip speed. Both the LG, and the iHAS have proven to be SLOW rippers. It literally BLOWS THEM AWAY. Im reinstalling OS next weekend, See what effect that has on it OK, sorry. It took me longer than a half hour, LOL
Well, it would appear that my LG is merely a mortal drive, LOL. Pretty high Pi E. Atleast higher than im used too Still within reason though. Premium TYG02 Hub printable.
