    @Unjust2u
    Try playing it back in one of the pc drives - see if you have the same problems there.

    I think cincyrob used the -R 16x Verbs - I use the +R 16x and all okay here.

    that code on those 16x-r you have there, is the same as those i got from office max that i had so much problems with.. MCC03GR20. i did not like those at all i took them back and got the +r's.... i still think verbatim produced those disc and found they wasnt all that good a batch and are just trying to dump them on us.. just my Opinion..

    Try burning them at 12x. seem to do better at that speed from i have tried?

    @binkie7 & cincyrob,
    Indy won some way.......:( They didn't deserve it. lol. Had to give m2c.
    Gonna be a good game in 2 weeks.

    Found some older discs when I was rearranging my backups and I'll post some of those later. Interesting stuff, not like we didn't already know it.

    I've been following this thread for a while now and have been feeling quite left out. I guess that's what happens when you have LG drives!!

    But, all that is about to change. Got a BenQ DW1650 today. I'll put in an external USB box, hopefully by the weekend. This should work OK for Disk Quality scans, shouldn't it?

    While I don't use a lot of DVDs, I am interested in CD-R, and I have a small collection of blank disks, kept 1 from each diffent pack over the last couple of years. I am keen to run a test on each of these.

    Anyone tried Nero CD-DVD Speed 4.7.0.2 yet?

    Hey Platy767
    Don't want you to feel that out! So post some scans of the new BenQ1650. Should be ok in the enclosure.

    I've tried the new CD-DVD Speed 1x and didn't really notice any diff but wasn't really paying attention.

    @binkie7,
    Always trying to be the mother figure. lol.

    @cincyrob,
    Try this thread and give Mort81 and Lp531 a chance to help as well. I know that docTY is sometimes busy and these guys are great. They helped me out. lol.

    lmao - if you only knew :) - that's one thing I haven't been called :0)

    @cincyrob
    I updated Nero to the latest 7.7.5.1 last week and that's the new version of CD-DVD Speed.
    Should just do a scan tonight of a recent one.

    I need to drop doc a line too - haven't talked to him recently.

    @all,
    I found these going through the old backups. I forgot how long I had been doing this and how crappy some of the media was that I used to begin with. LOL. I had a few on the same media as Hoodlum but it wouldn't even read it, WOW real good stuff there.

    Remember people it does make a difference on which media you use. I know that I'm kinda preaching to the choir here but someone might run through this thread and not know. Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim, Hitachi (Maxell MIJ), and some of the Ritek media are some of the best stuff you can get. Of course there are many sources to buy media, which you have to discover on your own. Not that hard just ask anyone here at aD (US, Canada, UK all have good places).

    This baby spun up for a while and finally started to read but wouldn't think about playing the movie. Look at these numbers, gotta be some kind of record.

    Impressive scan for a PRODISC and it still plays nicely.
    [IMG]
    TDK TTG02 and it still plays fine but for how long?

    Sorry for posting twice but wanted to break this thing up a little bit.
    This is a TYG01 burned over a year ago and still doing good.....
    [IMG]

    This YUDENT02 is what I'm talking about. Recorded on a Samsung TSST SH-S182D with a good score and what I want to see on all my scans. Consistent and low numbers where you need them. I'm not promoting the Samsung drive just what I want from a burned piece of media. lol.

    Good variety there greensman :)

    I have several that the drive sounds like it's going to fly out of the pc when I try & scan them - can't get a scan but they still play (well the one's I've tried at least :) )

    Yeah, you bunch of fanboys/girls! :p

    IMO, Pioneer 111D with hacked firmware is your best option! :)

    Ripper.....Watch out there "LITTLE" man. lol.

    I put a new Pioneer 111-D (and a LITEON LH-18A1P) in my friends new build but we haven't had the time to really test it yet. He lives across town and goes to school all dang day. Poor chap. lol. From what little he has used it he likes it well enough.

    I have one of the old Pioneer 106-D's (think that's right..not at home right now) and it was by far one of the best drives I had experience with. So all that to say Ripper has made a great suggestion. lol.

    cincyrob is right, the LITEON LH-18A1P has been a great performer for me. It burns and scans like a dream. Of course I dream about food. hhhhhmmmmmm yummy. lol.

    There are the links to the Pioneer and LITEON. Good luck and happy burning.

    edit: biggun31...I know this is rob's thread but I don't think that was OT at all. If you need a new drive where else would you ask but were they scan the burns. jm2c.
