Posts made here don't count towards member level

matt when i first started yes i was in the safety valve ,and opened a few threads to keep the regulars happy.But as the years come and go other people have taken that place and so it continues.It wasnt meant to add to your post count but to encourage people to communicate with each other through humour and social discourse.Now i find i post in most sections on multimedia, so the safety valve isnt really a big concern for me at all.I dont think i went up a level due to my contributions to this section but hope that it was an overall effort.

Let me clarify as I wasn't stating that safety valve posts boosted anyone. Before under the old system as I was reading in a few other threads seniors/ addicts/ mods were handpicked therefore the status held prestige. Therefore lounging in the safety valve was somewhat of a vacation and a sociable place to mingle. The understanding that I have is posts not of normal forum decorum should be placed here (with a degree of self-control) for all to discuss cordially. Personally I do try to add value and assistance where I can so maybe 1 day I can be held in the same regards as some of the older seniors/ addicts who don't squander posts with 'yea I agree' or jump in a thread simply to berate someone if they don't disagree. All in all I want to follow the example set by the ones here before me and hopefully the noobies will follow suit bringing this site back to the days where everyone enjoyed themselves without flamewars.

nice sentiments but unrealistic, there have always been flamewars and always will, however back then and i mean 3 or so years earlier they were tame compared to the intensity that they are now

 

If only everyone held to those beliefs, what wonderful world this would be . . . .

I think this is great. I actually asked Darthnip this morning if there was a way we could make the "Word Association Game" thread not count towards people total thread count.

I ended up telling Darth not to bother because I had just noticed the title of this thread "Posts made here don't count towards member level", then came the snapping of the fingers and saying "Done"

The forum room is listed as "safety valve". Just like "Nero Discussion" or "DVD Shrink" forums.
