I have 2 of these at home http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139006&Tpk=tx750w and on one of them I'm running Core i7 and just recent got a GTX285 running on it, very silent PSU.
The TX750 isn't that quiet to be honest, it's alright but Corsair's HX models are much better in that regard.
They really need to categorize the PSU's by dimensions on newegg, and comparable sites! It would make it loads easier when shopping for them. I need a 5 1/2 inch depth PSU. Im currently looking at this one. Newegg doesn't list the dimensions!!! Not that I could trust them anyway I suppose rosewill.com will suffice. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817182006 http://www.rosewill.com/products/s_361/productDetail.htm And it would appear that the dimensions are EXACTLY what I need. What do you fine people think of this badboy LOL!
A Rosewill PSU. Help yourself to some free death, it's complementary! Smallest PSU I've ever owned is this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817610002 It's also the quietest PSU I've ever owned, at around 10dB.
Spendy little bugger sam! This PSU is going in a 2001 gatway. Just to get her by for now. She lists stuff on ebay, and plays solitaire. Thats it! LOL! Besides, the rosewill is getting pretty good reviews. If it even lasts 6months, that should do...
the 430W thermaltake is in the Tower now. I dont wanna keep it there because its dangerously oversized. It could fall... Thats why I need the proper dimensions. Its a tool-less design case. Because the Thermaltake is sooo long, the clip cant work properly. It needs to be 5 1/2 inches in depth/length(back of PSU)
I had a feeling you'd say that LOL! I've already begun thinking about how i'll drill the holes in the back, to accommodate the PSU bolts. I've never done any kind of serious modding like this. She said go ahead and do it. LATER that is. She's busy listing stuff now. Guess i'll simply break out a ruler and make sure its done perfectly. What do you mean keith???
Do you not know what gaffer is? It's Duct tape. So the term 'bit of gaffer' refers to a pikey (I think the closest American thing would be redneck) repair job.
LOL! Thanks for the clarification. And I might actually do something like that for myself. But I couldn't do that to someone else's rig. I don't think it'll be too difficult to drill a couple holes. Depends on her case. Last time I looked at it in the back, it seemed unusual...
Ere in South Yorkshire at least, gaffer is simply the bloke in charge so a football manager would be a gaffer but then so would me (my) head of sixth-form, me boss, me mam (mum) and so on. This seems to have gone off topic very quickly.
You mean you'll buy a new PC when your PSU blows up, it's unlikely that it'll only be the PSU you'll need to replace.
Then I'll make a leak put the computer under the leak and claim it back on insurance!!!! Sorry. I'm in a funny modd. It's been one of those days. I've got a girlfriend na-na-na-na-na-na .
