I had the same problem. One DVD burn good and few more didnt work. i update the firmware and do not have this problem anymore.
I have Pioneer 105. If the firmware dont solve the problem try to use Recordmax 4.5 use the ifoedit guide. Maybe DVDXX is the problem.

What version is your firmware now crotzari?
I also had some problems when updateing the newest firmware for the a05. I can still burn perfect movies with ritek media and stomp record now max, but now the disk explorer doesent work says drives not ready. I had to revert to a diferent version to burn... really weird. bye the way ive tryed other types of media aswell maxell tdk, memorex, all burn fine, just that the drive properties and disk explorer dosent funtion gives me this message "drive not ready insert disk". so now I have use the wizzard and then click data to burn. Once ive done that it will get to 98% done and then freeeze for about 30 40 minutes at 98% then it pops my disk out.after that I played dvd rip and it works 100% flwless. I thought it was toast. well now im looking for other burning software to try; got any ideas any one.

    Hi !

I don't know which version I have of the firmaware. I took your advice and downloaded the trialversion of stomps RecordNow Max 4.5 and it works perfectly. Even with those cheap BulkDVDs I get a pefect burn (only, sometimes the program chooses to set burnspeed to a measly 1X...).
Currently I'm looking for a shop that sell RecordNow Max here in Sweden since I feel awkward about using my creditcard over internet to shop.
I urge everyone who burns DVDs to try this program si9nce it's free to use for 30 days.

My friend and I have found that when using cheap BulkDVD-R we can't make a good 4.7 GB burn all the time. Seems that there's a common problem with burning above 4 GB on the cheaper DVDs. When we're burning with werbatim DVD-R media, the same files and the same program, it never fails... I guess you get what you pay for. Strangely enough though, when burning filmDVDs larger than 4 GB in recordnow Max on cheap DVDs it now works. But If I start up the latest version of Nero and creates a DVD (UDF) that allows for DVDs larger than 2 GB I still can't add files above 4 GB and be certain that they will be readable. Works with Verbatim every time though...

    Hello,
I have a Pioneer A05/105, and I see everyone talking about a firmware update. I went to Pioneer's site, but I don't see any update for the 105/A05, just the 104, 103, etc.. Where did you get these updates, and what is it called? Thank you.
