Sometimes a backup game will load, sometimes the disc will stop spinning before it even loads. Is the the famous DRE which would mean I need to laser tweak?

Yes, it needs laser tweaking or different media.
Try all kind of ohm values(around 150-350 is good to try), then if it wont work, change media.
And when you burn backups, take burn protection off, works better.

no thats not the DRE error

    i have the same prob sametimes,in anaconda04,disk stops,swap,disc spins,gamecube reads,but does not loading

try again, same process, same media, disk reads and loads flawlessly

1/10 trys the disc does not load

DRE is,when the game stops spinning while the game, and the tv screen shows you the message to reboot the gamecube

Well.. I think I may have found the answer to my problems..

I downloaded a program called Nero DVD Speed to test the data of my burned mini DVD-R's (Optodiscs) backups of my original games. The ones I have not been able to get to work all have Read Errors whereas the games that do work do not have any errors when tested, 100% success. So, now I have to distinguish if it's the quality of the media or my system having buffer issues while burning. Maybe this will help some of you. You can snag the program at..
