your version of Nero 6 is not the stablest version.... 6.6.0.18 is the most stablest version of Nero 6 and I would update it to that version. Here's how:

Before udating to 6.6.0.18 I would save the serial #, uninstall Nero, then use the cleaning tools : http://ww2.nero.com/nero6/eng/Clean_Tools.html
then do a registry clean up(free registry cleaner, CClean: http://www.ccleaner.com/download/downloadpage.aspx?1) and defrag...... then reboot!

    install package one:
    http://www.filehippo.com/download_nero_burning_rom/?539

    then install package two:
    http://www.nero.com/nero6/eng/Patch_for_NVE3.html
Do NOT install InCD! Will explain later.
reboot and you're good to go!

also I would use better media. Stick with the MIJ rule (Made In Japan). Look for the MIJ on the label of the box of spindle (Taiyo Yuden, Sony, Maxell, and some Fuji)... the only exception to this rule is Verbatim, which is top notch media but made in Taiwan/Singapore and the only non MIJs I will use.

using too much memoroy.... no multi tasking, no internet and shut down unnecessary programs running in the background taking up memory! Adding more RAM would be nice!

you are using RITEK disks....some members like them but there are better quality disk that you can use.... and you are burning too close to the outer edge of your disk .... burn no closer than 4400MB ... some members even stop it at 4300MB.

you are burning at maximum speed..... burn no higher than 8x (half the rated speed of your 16x disk)

you have Roxio/Sonic on your computer with Nero! With some computer they clash! If you are having problems with Nero then it's a good chance they are having issues with eachother. Uninstall InCd also! when you update Nero to version 6.6.0.18 do not install InCD!

InCD and Roxio/Sonic are programs that Packet Writing. .Packet writing utilities are notorious for interfering with burn processes, as the way it works is to continually poll the burner to check for new media. This prevents the burn application gaining exclusive access to the burner, and sense code errors will happen - every time. Get rid of all packet writing utilities. They are more trouble than they are worth.

Run Roxio Zapper to make sure there are no traces of Roxio/Sonic on your computer when you uninstall: http://www.softpedia.com/get/Tweak/Uninstallers/Roxio-Zap.shtml
