PROBLEM: Graphics Card or Hard Drive ???

Unfortunately no, I installed it recently myself and don't really know what I'm doing.

 

Holy CRAP!!! A couple months ago i did a Video Card Stability Test and my card scored 2092 points, which was high. I just tested it again and I got 700 POINTS!!! Normal GTS' get 800, mine had dropped enormously since that last date!! Something's wrong....

EDIT: did it again, now the score is 470!

 

You could try reinstaling the drivers, but seriously, get the card replace.

oh , you said 9600Gt, that doesn't even compare to my card! Maybe revision 2 or GT version? Thanks

 

yeah I think i will RMA it. It's really too bad that revision 1's are still produced...Some1 please take them off...

Btw do you know if they update warranty or RMA after I RMA it? They did that to my DS.

 

Yeah, well graphics cards go wrong from time to time, I can't exactly help that.
As for the 9600GT, how do you mean "it doesn't compare"?

 

Unfortunately my vendor doesn't do evga so I have to contact them directly. I have not registered my product, I bought it this summer so I dunno why should you register... also they're going to test it so I have to be sure it's defective. They also say that they won't replace physical damage or "modifications" ---> as in Overclocking? I didn't do that but... I did change the fan speed for a second or two... is that bad? I don't want to pay for shipping and then get it returned.

As for 9600GT, is that even a good card? Thanks.

 

Even if a retailer no longer sells the product you have, if it's less than a year old, it should still be their responsibility to replace it.
Changing the fan speed does not count as a "modification" to the card.
The 9600GT is a very decent card, it's similar in performance to the old 8800GTS, which is why I said that's what it might get replaced with.

 

Oh kewl...then I should have no trouble replacing it...but -,- pay for shipping... that blows + if it gets stolen/damaged/misdelivered that would melt my precious high point.

 

HEY I have another question: Can RAM (for CPU) frequency fall? Cuz I purchased OCz 2GB DDR2 PC2-6400 Platinum @ 800MHz.

When I opened up CPU-z under frequency it showed 400.7-400.8 MHz. I think I am making a mistake in reading these readings, I don't know but can you help me?

That's correct. The memory runs at 400mhz, but because it's Double Data Rate, that makes it 800mhz, as per the label.

 

Hey also, the guy from evga said to check the 12V railings of power supply using GPU-z or something. I used GPU-z but never figured out what to look for. He said it could be power supply failure, do you know how can I spot it? I have 500W HX Corsair

 

Hey, I have another... problem. Just recently I turn on my PC, and it doesn't how to say... it's as if the monitor isn't receiving any signals. I opened up my case and noticed that the Graphics Card is making this Fan noise, as if it has another fan built in that I cannot see. Whenever it makes that "noise" the monitor has no signal, but just now that fan noise only lasted for 1 second at the boot and the computer started like normal. What is that noise? It's like... a cd-disk in the drive noise. I have a video of it, with sound if you want. I think I will also ask the guy at evga. Also, he didn't answer my question: does you RMA for 1 year gets updated if you use it? Thanks.

 

PSU failure is very unikely with a Corsair (though very likely with other brands) but of course it could still happen. Use a monitoring program like Speedfan or Everest to tell you the 12V rails of your PSU. If they're anything significantly lower than 12, suspect the PSU - do this for all the rails (5V and 3.3V as wel_
The reason you can't see anything IMO is that your graphics card has finally failed and isn't booting. Since graphics card fans automatically run at full speed before they boot, that's why you can hear it - of course on this occasion it's stuck there. I'm pretty certain it's the GPU now - get it replaced.

As for the RMA, it should last the additional year, but you ought to check that first.
