Well, i think i found the problem. I started doing all the steps to getting another hard drive into the comp and now when i power on it starts making loud grindin noises. It is directed towards the power supply. Im assuming this is the cause? If so, i guess i need to replace the power supply with another. What one should i get please, im not too good with the hardware stuff. The model it says on the power supply is ATX100-5 by Bestec Power Electronics Corp. The comp is a HP PAvilion model 6553. So any ideas please? Thanks so much!

I understand that, and that does help some, but i was wondering if you could help me on how to determine the approx size and type of power supply. Thanks!

take the calculated # from the program plus 30% & the old psu to your local computer store to see if they have 1 that has both the wattage, dimensions & motherboard connector you need!
