Yeah I have tried three programs in CloneDVD, DVDFab, and DVDShrink. I am trying to copy the first disc of the Smurfs Season 1, Vol. 1 set. The second disc copied with ease. the first is being very difficult. I am able to rip and burn. But at different times there will be skips at different episodes. Like in one scene you can see and hear the character talking then the picture freezes for about a second or two. Then the audio is dead when that happens. then it goes back to normal but a chunk of the dialog is missed. Has anyone ever experienced that?

probably poor blank media, what brand are you using? and or your burn speed. use Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim burning at 4x to 8x max. memorex, hp TDK phillips etc don't touch,

and use this thread for the best info on backing up your DVDs

I am using 8x Taiyo Yuden with a white top. I have been buring at MAX speed of my MATSHITA UJ-810 DVD burner.

The thing is I haven't had this kind of problem with our dvds. Which makes this frustrating.

There's several different fw version for which laptop you have.

    Max Burning?

People think max burning is ok,especially since they're using 8x speed media. However, some 16x burners overburn 8x media to 12x and even 16x..

Set the burn speed to 8x or even 4x and try again. You could have also gotten a hold of a bad disc,so try one toward's the bottom of the spindle.

Is this occuring during playback on a stand alone player or on the pc?

Make sure your PC plays it and it should look near original in quality. Use the Matshita drive to do the playing.

Playback on a Standalone DVD player. I think it was the disc. I gave up on it. Thanks guys for your help. This was one SOB disc that just wouldn't burn like it was suppose to. It happens.
