my recorder buffer level is constantly moving, from like 5 to 87 to 90 to 15 to 5 and so on but the used read buffer stays at 100. it never used to do this. i dont know but maybe that has something to do with the problem.

I don't know. I had the same problem with a 4x burner. I needed an upgrade anyway so I replaced it with a 16x DL drive. I would try your burner in another pc to isolate whether it is the drive or possibly software or hardware conflict before replaceing the drive.

I can't offer any more suggestions. My new drive isn't working exactly like it should. I think I may have a bad IDE channel on my motherboard. I'm building a new pc next week so oh well.

    themick07,

Looks like you ruled out any problem with your drive. The only suggestions I can give you are: defrag your hdd, run a spyware-adware tool, if you have nero IN CD or roxio get rid of them. GL I hope you get it figured out.
