My guess would be that your original copy's are corrupt or have some bad sectors. Run some of your original copy's through nero scan disc or dvdinfopro crc read error scan.

yeah, i touched on the fact they might be corrupt original copies/ CRC scanning further up but i guess it gets lost when the post gets so long...

I find it a little odd that Nykid gets a new burner and "all" his backups are having the same problem, as he said above. I've heard the NEC 3520a is a pretty good unit. Ritek blanks are generally quite servicable. It seems to me a compatibility issue between the burner and the disks rather than corrupted media. If I were Nykid I'd try the disks in another burner or DVD-ROM before assuming they were all useless.

I'm using Ridata branded Ridata 4x dvd-R type dvd's/ they are not the typical g04 or g05 dvd's people are using. I'm assuming its the media.

UPDATE: I have found the problem. I was using cd stomper stick on labeles and apparently it was creating an imbalance in the cd when played or spun in the burner. I ripped off all the labels and they burn and play perfectly. thnaks
