I have done all you suggest. I cannot view the Video TS file with Power DVD;I only get the 1st (menu) screen & none of the menu choices are active. When I want to go to the next chapter, I get back to Power DVD.

I've been having some problems with my own computer as of late. I likely have a corrupt file or two in my operating system. This is fairly normal when trying different softwares all the time...and then uninstalling them. Anyway, I'm going to shut down soon and get things cleaned up. I will let you know when I am back.

Hopefully someone else here at AD will come across this and be able to jump in and keep you on the project.

First, welcome to AD. The best place to start, however, is with reading the rules. The AD forum doesn't knowingly assist in helping people pirate copy protected works ... which is what you have implied you want to do (downloaded a DVD).

On the other hand, if this material is a "public domain, non-copy protected" work, it would be best to post this question as a stand-alone in the category of "DVD-R for Newbies" which is on the front page of the AD forum. This is also a good place to post if you want info on how to backup your privately owned DVD's.

    Good luck.

I confirmed that you should be able to play any video_ts folder in either PowerDVD, WinDVD, or Nero Showtime - which is part of the Nero 6 package. If you are unable to do so, you probably need to do like me, and do a clean install. I do one every few months, as do others here at AD, so it isn't that unusal.

You might try the system file checker routine. Here is a link for that.
System File checker - http://www.networkclue.com/os/Windows/commands/sfc.php and
    http://www.updatexp.com/scannow-sfc.html

The thing is, you shouldn't be having trouble with Shrink, Decrypter, and the players. When it comes to multiple problems, and none can be resolved, it is best to just bite the bullet, and take the time to do a fresh install. To do otherwise just becomes a colossal waste of time.

I will also add that a primary source of problems is caused by malware that is acquired when surfing the net. Get Adaware and Spybot installed to keep this stuff out. They are both freeware. Even without the malware factor, files get corrupted.

Doc409-Thanks for the advice. However,I am almost sure that the problem is with my (MSI)burner. The first one I bought, crashed completely after a week (no read no write);they replaced it - this was less than a month ago-and now I am getting all these problems.I am going to exchange it for a different brand, cos this is driving me nuts.Any recomendations appreciated.

If you have to get a new burner now, I would get the newer dual layer one. While you don't know how well it will work with the dl media, at least you know it will work for a DVD-5. As it is, these dl burners are so new that no one knows how good they are to be able to recommend one.

A good USA source is www.newegg.com. I was there today and they have an Optowrite for $83 (price good today only) on the home page.
